πŸ’š We deserve to be paid properly for the work we do that Makes Minnesota Happen! Every community is run by public service workers who ensure we have safer streets, clean drinking water, and the programs and services our neighbors, students, and families depend on! 🫑

➑️ That all requires federal, state, and local government investments. And that is why raising revenue on multi-billion dollar corporations and the very wealthy is essential when they have garnered more than 85% of the wealth generated in the last few years and DOZENS of corporations paid NOTHING in federal corporate taxes in spite of their billions in profit. At the same time, we must ensure the public dollars we do have are not outsourced and privatized to unaccountable organizations.

πŸ’ͺ To fight back: Join your union, become active and engaged and take action, attend and participate in local union meetings, run for union office, attend trainings, conventions, lobby days, and so much more!

πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ AFSCME Minnesota Council 5 won 3 PEOPLE awards at our 47th International Union Convention! β€œPEOPLE” is our union’s voluntary fund to support candidates who fight for our values in the halls of power and oppose those who seek to weaken or destroy worker power. This national recognition was earned by every PEOPLE contributor across our Council 5 family, our regional PEOPLE Committee chairs and members, and our Political Department team, as we fight for better, stronger, safer workplaces and communities for EVERYONE πŸ«‘πŸ’šπŸ’ͺ

πŸ’šπŸ’ͺ Our AFSCME Council 5 delegation stood up and made it clear at the AFSCME International Union Convention that an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us. And Nico Montag of AFSCME Local 2829 (Council 5, Minnesota State Amalgamated) spoke so powerfully and personally on the countless attacks trans people face all across the country. Our AFSCME family resoundingly passed a resolution at the Convention to denounce these attacks and recommit ourselves and our union to fighting for fair and equal treatment and against discrimination and hate. πŸ’š

Dolly Parton knew what it meant to struggle and never forgot where she came from. She spent her life lifting up working families, from giving children free books to giving working women that β€œ9 to 5” anthem.

She was an icon, an inspiration, and a reminder that success means more when you use it to help others.

Rest in power Dolly.
