As the new year begins, we're reflecting on transitions: last year to this year; dark to light; old to new.

And although all of our work involves change - clearing trails; removing trash; planting trees - one type of clean water project stands out: removing a dam.

Below is a link that shares highlights of our 6th dam removal project since 2016, which we completed this fall. Removing the Farnham Brothers Dam in Tunbridge has changed the river forever - reconnecting 15 miles of the First Branch to free-flowing conditions.

We couldn't do this important work without YOU - THANK YOU for your support in 2025 and best wishes for the new year,
The WRP team

This morning we met with VT Dam Safety for the Farnham Brothers Dam post-removal inspection. The site looks great, it was good to see a little more water in the river.

There is a lot of ledge at this location. It will be exciting to see what this section of the First Branch looks like in the coming years.

A huge thanks to all of our partners for their help and support for this project: Canonica Landworks, USFWS, Ripple Natural Resources, Watersheds United Vermont, VT DEC, Wolff Archaeological Services, Hand Wing Solutions, and a wonderful private landowner.
