Jumpstart your career as an EMT in just 3 months!

01/27/2024

South Royalton Rescue staff and our Advisory Board send our condolences to family and friends of Tyler Robideau, one of our full time employees, who passed away on Thursday morning. Tyler had just started with South Royalton Rescue as a full time employee in December. He had just completed his certification as an AEMT and had much to offer to our team. He was pleasant, giving, and eager to work at the AEMT level and was looking forward to Paramedic School in the near future. He was happy to know our service did house calls for those in our coverage area who needed guidance or just a friendly visit. His eagerness to move forward in this field is a great loss to the world of EMS. He came to us with smiles, empathy to help those who were experiencing a tough time with medical or mental issues. South Royalton Rescue sends our condolences to Tyler’s family and friends. He will be missed by many and the EMS world has lost a bright caring EMS provider.

During hot and humid weather, it's harder for your body to cool itself down. When you heat up too quickly, or when you lose too much fluid or salt through dehydration or sweating, you may feel sick. Learn the symptoms of heat-related illnesses, what first aid actions to take, and when to seek medical attention at www.healthvermont.gov/hot-weather

As water levels begin to drop after the flooding Monday into Tuesday, please do not swim in the river until the color of the water is clear. We learned after Irene that bacteria and other pollutants are very high in flood waters. We cancelled the July 12 Swim Smart Monitoring event but will gather data on July 26 and share results on July 27.

We know there will be plenty of trash to remove in and along the river once flood waters recede. Stay tuned for opportunities to get involved in river cleanups in the coming weeks.

More information and resources can be found on our website for those who were impacted by the flooding or who want to help: https://whiteriverpartnership.org/upcoming-events/
