Last week, we provided an opportunity to bring together synagogue leaders from across our community for a collaborative and productive discussion. In an open and supportive environment, leaders shared ideas, challenges, and practical strategies, offering one another insight and encouragement. The conversation reinforced an important truth: when we learn from one another and work together, our entire community benefits.

Today, on Holocaust Survivor Day, we join together to honor and celebrate the Holocaust Survivors across the United States. This worldwide initiative is rooted in gratitude for the gift of our Survivors’ legacies and in recognition of their lives, families, and contributions to our communities. Thanks to a grant requested and received from the Seed the Dream Foundation, Jewish Federation in the Heart of NJ is grateful to sponsor a luncheon for Holocaust survivors, hosted by Jewish Family Services.

Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey mourns alongside the community of the Islamic Center in San Diego following today’s horrific shooting. No one should ever fear for their safety while gathering in prayer, community, or worship.

This tragedy comes as more than 400 Jewish Federation leaders from across the country arrive In Washington, DC, to advocate lawmakers for $1 billion in security funding to help protect houses of worship and faith-based institutions nationwide.

Today’s attack is yet another painful reminder that the threat facing religious communities in America is real, urgent, and growing.
