The Rotary Club of South Burlington recently installed a Peace Pole on the front lawn at the entrance of South Burlington High School. This project was a collaborative effort between the club's Youth, Community, and International/Foundation service committees, with implementation facilitated by the high school and supported by SB School District Superintendent Joe Clark. Clark is a new member of the South Burlington club and was a Rotarian in other communities where he lived previously.

The pole features the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in English, French, Spanish, and Nepalese. Rotarian Nina Borden who led the initiative noted: "We selected this high-visibility location near Dorset Street to serve as a symbol of unity, compassion, and global harmony for the entire community. Our hope is that the installation will invite students, staff, and visitors to reflect on their role in creating a more peaceful world."

Aligned with Rotary’s commitment to peace building, this landmark aims to inspire individuals to “Think, Act, and Speak in Peace.” It will be formally dedicated this fall on or around World Peace Day, September 26.

The Rotary Club of South Burlington also welcomes inquiries and applications from individuals interested in joining its growing community of service-minded members.
