Many thanks to our Cub Scouts who helped clean up St. John Vianney’s garden and yard A few weekends ago! This parish is so gracious to host us at their lovely facilities and we were happy to show our gratitude in this way!

This morning, two of our Wolf Scouts (and a soon-to-be Lion) did a trash pickup around their school playgrounds at Christ the King School! This was a conservation service project as part of their Champions for Nature belt loop. Once this is complete, then the Wolf den will have done ALL of the 26 belt loops available in this rank!! Great achievement, Wolves!

Today the Wolf den earned their Spirit of the Water belt loop on a field trip to the Peter Jacob Water Treatment Facility in South Burlington, home to the Champlain Water District. Did you know that all our drinking water comes from Lake Champlain? Did you know how it gets nice and clean for us to drink? Did you know that we have won awards for having some of the most delicious water in the country? Well, our Cub Scouts now do! We saw giant pumps, tanks full of water in the mid-treatment process, cool laboratories where they test the water, and even the control room/security center. Many thanks to Joe Duncan of the Champlain Water District for our tour and this great learning opportunity!

Last night, our Tiger den visited the South Burlington Public Library to work on the Stories in Shapes belt loop. They did origami, learned to depict their names in Braille and ASL, and visited the art gallery in the hallway. Great job, Tigers, and thanks to the SBPL for hosting!

Our assistant den leader Jason took charge of the Wolf den meeting Monday night to teach us all about computers! For the Computing Wolves belt loop, scouts disassembled a computer to discover its major components (like the CPU, GPU, and motherboard), learned about electronics recycling, signed a digital safety pledge, and presented their own stories created using digital platforms!

Last weekend we celebrated the birthday of Scouting at our Blue and Gold banquet! All our dens were excited to get together and receive achievements, eat delicious food, and even pie one of our leaders (thanks, Russ! 😂). Special thanks and gratitude to the Olive Garden for donating food, and to the South Burlington Rotary Club for helping to serve and clean up!! We are blessed to have such wonderful community partners!

Are there any bananas in the sky? When your guest speaker is a scout, we start the meetings with songs. Thank you, Jen Lawrence!

Last Monday was a very special day for Pack 678! Our AOL Scouts crossed over from the Pack into our two troops: 611 for the boys and 6110 for the girls. This is always a moving ceremony which allows the Scouts to reflect on all they’ve learned in their years of Cub Scouts and to share their joy with their families and leaders. However, this year’s Crossover was particularly special because our AOL den was the first den of girls that came up all the way from Lion Scouts in kindergarten! We are so proud of these young people and look forward to their bright futures in Scouting ⚜️
