When enjoying KY's beautiful lakes, please remember to pack up any fishing gear. A good Samaritan kayaking down Wood Creek Lake found a Barred owl hanging from an old fishing line. Fishing is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, but discarded fishing line, hooks, lures, and other tackle can be extremely dangerous to wildlife. This is completely preventable. Luckily, the owl only suffered some bruising on its wing, and after spending time in our care, it was able to be released at a private creek area. If you find any animal tangled or hooked, do not attempt to remove the equipment yourself. Please contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator for assistance.

Leave the outdoors better than you found it. Our wildlife depends on it!

As we celebrate the successful release of our final bald eagle rehab of the summer, we pause to remember the 25th anniversary of 9/11. We honor the lives lost, the courageous first responders and heroes who made ultimate sacrifices, and the families forever impacted by that fateful day.

Never forgotten. Forever remembered. Always grateful. 🦅🇺🇸❤

We appreciate your ongoing support of the refuge throughout this year.

Another eagle has returned home! 🦅Thank you to all the staff, volunteers, and patrons who attended the return of "Lincoln," a juvenile bald eagle, to its natural habitat at Pulaski County Park. It is always a good feeling when an eagle returns back into the wild.

Hello all - we have another juvenile Bald Eagle that we will be releasing at Pulaski County Park on Wednesday near the boat ramp at 11am. This eagle came to us around the same time as the other eagles, with no visible injuries; only slightly emaciated and weak. She is ready to go!
