This past weekend, through our program, we came together to strengthen and support our community by educating families on while also celebrating the incredible women/mothers among us.

Thanks to the generous support from the Puget Sound Foundation, we distributed more than 100 emergency kits and fire blankets — helping ensure our community is safer, prepared, and empowered.

Together, we continue building resilience, one individual and one family at a time.

Let’s talk about during this 2026, because it is real, its impacts persist, and Black women are often the most impacted. Some of it’s characteristics include;

“Invisible" Norms: Systemic racism often operates in the background, making it difficult for people to notice, especially if they are not experiencing its effects firsthand.

Independent of Intent: Systemic racism produces racist outcomes even in the absence of conscious bigotry or individual racist intent, as established policies and procedures are inherently disadvantageous.

Mutually Reinforcing: across different sectors—such as poor leading to poor , which leads to fewer opportunities—reinforce each other to maintain a of disadvantage.

Recognizing systemic racism requires looking at these rather than focusing only on individual acts of , as it is a deeply embedded, of .
