Beautiful baby Boris is feeling SO much better, and we couldn’t be happier to see our goofy little guy back to his playful self! 🩵
It looks like we’ve finally figured out what was causing his irritated skin. We believe Boris was having an allergic reaction to storage mites in his kibble, and since switching him back to The Farmer’s Dog fresh food, he’s been thriving! He’s back to running around the yard, chasing balls, playing and being his adorable, goofy self!
You may recall that when Boris visited our veterinarian late last week for his skin issues, we also took follow-up X-rays of his lungs to check on his recovery from pneumonia. While he’s doing incredibly well, we decided on one final round of antibiotics to make sure we’ve completely eradicated the infection.
There’s just one more little issue we’re working through before Boris returns to the adoption floor. Shortly after eating, he occasionally spits up a little water, sometimes with a tiny bit of food. We’ve started elevating his food bowls and giving him some quiet time after meals to see if that resolves the issue. If not, we have a few more tricks up our sleeves, including keeping him upright for a short period after eating. For now, we’re giving the elevated bowls a few days to see how he responds.
We’re so close to having all of Boris’s medical concerns behind us, and we want to make sure we’ve got everything figured out before he’s available for adoption again.
In the meantime, Boris is perfectly happy soaking up all the extra attention, snuggles and playtime! Hopefully, it won’t be long before this beautiful boy is back to searching for his forever family! 💙🐾
