Every part of the church restoration is important. Here Janet Burton is getting the final painting done on the first restored pew gate. Coincidentally, the name plate that goes on it is the Gold Rush era property owner where she now lives —“Timothy Linehan.” Crystal Saldana is painting the entire second pew, restored by her husband, Jay of Saldana Handyman Services, and we hope to have it back in the church soon.

At last, the sanctuary railing is restored and back in place. Thank you, Brandon Senn and his good helpers!

We’re almost ready for Wreaths Across America Saturday, Dec.13. At noon there’s the ceremony at the fraternal Smartsville Cemetery. After all the veteran wreaths are laid there and in the Catholic Cemetery, we’ll meet at the historic church in Smartsville for one more ceremonial wreath going on the redwood tree. Lastly we’ll enjoy refreshments and be able to view the restoration progress inside the church. Thanks, Jeannie Pittman and Julie Jasper, for showing up today to decorate so festively. Hope to see lots of us Smartsvillagers!

A tough job that involved work on the very high ceiling is at last complete! Joe Ramos of JR Squared Construction Inc. has installed our chandelier and wall sconces. His father, Joe Ramos, Sr., a Smartsville native, assisted and must have been proud of his son successfully working on scaffolding 23’ high. Thanks to our VP Kathy Smith for not giving up in her pursuit for these historic lamps. Visit us at the upcoming Wreaths Across America event December 13th and see this in person.
