Last evening Sue Papa, an advocate for mental health and su***de awareness spoke to our club about the importance of talk and how it saves lives. She is active with the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention, which recently held a walk at the Greenville Town Park. Many youth participated in the walk. The club, as well as individual members donated $477 to the cause. Sue Meier , thank you for sharing your story with us and volunteering for such a worthy cause.

Our Veteran of the month was Michael Phillips of VFW Post #5497 in Mount Hope, NY.
He spoke about their mission to install markers and flags on the graves of 500 Veterans throughout the Mount Hope area. The cost is $50.00 per honoree. Michael said they are also seeking volunteers.

This month the club had the pleasure of hosting guest Tyler Whetsel, from the Rumshock Veterans Foundation, to speak at a meeting. Tyler shared how the vision of Rumshock became a reality. The tiny home village will house Veterans in the city of Port Jervis, N.Y.

This year the club awarded (11) $1000. Scholarships to graduating seniors. Our fundraising efforts throughout the year allow us to give back to the community in many ways. Helping children and students being our main focus. If you are interested in joining Kiwanis and helping your community, please contact any Minisink Valley Kiwanian or join us at a meeting any Tuesday evenings @ 7:00 p.m. in the Olde Erie Restaurant in Middletown, NY

In June the club held their annual 'Fishing Derby' for kids. 84 fisher people participated in this event on a beautiful summer morning. Thank you to Marshall Potter for the use of his pond.

Our long time member Jim Lawler is gifting Peter Ewanciw his MVK apron. Jim will be moving and leaving the club after decades of volunteering. Thank you Jim for your dedicated service. You will be missed by many.
