Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the devastating wildfires in the Spokane area and across Washington.

According to Greater Spokane Incorporatedane Inc., the most urgent needs right now are financial contributions and food donations. Two primary ways to help are:

• Spokane Complex Wildfire Response Fund through Innovia

• Second Harvest Inland Northwest, which is coordinating food donations

The City of Spokane - Municipal Government is also maintaining an updated resource page with information for residents and businesses. Additional support for housing, recovery and long-term relief is being organized and will be shared as it becomes available.

We have great respect and appreciation for the responders, utility workers, volunteers and community partners working around the clock—and we are keeping all communities affected by wildfires in our thoughts.

Modern ships require modern dry docks.

The Multi-Mission Dry Dock at PSNS & IMF on the Waterfront at Naval Base Kitsap (NBK)-Bremerton is a key part of the Navy's comprehensive, long-term recapitalization efforts at PSNS & IMF under the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program (SIOP). The new dry dock and its associated utilities, crane system, pier, and support facilities will accommodate current and future ships and submarines, including the new Gerald R. Ford class of aircraft carriers.

The Navy needs to upgrade and improve the shipyard’s capabilities and capacities to ensure PSNS & IMF can continue to meet its important mission to maintain, modernize, and retire the Navy’s nuclear-powered fleet into the foreseeable future.
