Leadership Sikeston does Industry Day! It was a busy day as we made our way to Carlisle Construction Materials, Refresco, Dewitt Company, Manpower Sikeston, Orgill, and The Magnum Ice Cream Company - Sikeston, MO. While we know that only scratches the surface of the industry in Sikeston, it was great to get to see behind the scenes of some of the various companies who make up our local economy.

After lunch, they got to work on their class project and living in The Working Genius. Details soon on what they are planning, but you may want to save the date for October 9th!

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Future Leaders Learning Academy as a new Chamber member and celebrated their official ribbon cutting!

This milestone represents more than the opening of a new business. It showcases the impact of collaboration, community investment, and economic development in action. Through a regional child care study led by Bootheel Progress With Partnership, child care was identified as a critical workforce need across Scott, Mississippi, and New Madrid Counties. That research helped spark conversations, partnerships, and ultimately a solution.

Thanks to the vision of Tiffany Harris, the support of Southeast Missouri State University - Sikeston, and the dedication of numerous community partners, Future Leaders Learning Academy is helping address a vital need for local families while strengthening our regional workforce. Access to reliable child care allows more parents to participate in the workforce, supports local employers, and contributes to the long-term economic success of our communities.

As both the Sikeston Chamber and Bootheel Progress With Partnership work together to support business growth and economic opportunity throughout our region, it is especially rewarding to celebrate projects like this that create meaningful impact for families, employers, and the community as a whole.

We are back once again with a new feature we have started at our Chamber luncheons — the Member Spotlight! As a reminder, at each luncheon, we draw a business card at random from one of our attending members to highlight one of our incredible Chamber businesses and the people behind them.

Meet this month’s spotlight: Mandy Newton, Commercial Insurance Producer with Anderson & Green Insurance Agency!

"Hi! My name is Mandy Newton, and I am a Commercial Insurance Producer with Anderson & Green Insurance Agency. I love helping individuals, families, and businesses find insurance solutions that protect what matters most to them while building lasting relationships within our community.

One of the things I enjoy most about my role is connecting with people throughout Sikeston and supporting both new and longtime residents with personalized service and trusted guidance. Anderson & Green Insurance Agency continues to thrive because of our commitment to putting clients first and staying actively involved in the community we serve.

I graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in Clinical Laboratory Science and originally entered the insurance industry to help people better understand their health coverage. Early in my career, I transitioned into commercial property and casualty insurance, where I found my passion. This August will mark my 10th year as an insurance producer, and I have proudly spent the last 9½ years with Anderson & Green Insurance Agency.

Outside of work, I enjoy keeping up with my daughters. My oldest daughter, Kylyn, lives in Nashville and works as an Event Manager for the W Hotel. My youngest daughter, Avery, will be a sophomore at Mississippi State University this fall.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Chamber and to continue building meaningful connections with other local businesses and professionals!"
