Heinz and Kruz had quite the Rescue journey.
These brothers were part of a litter of four that arrived on July 31st. Only 10 weeks old, their skin was crusty and covered with lesions, even missing patches of fur. Their appearance had tell-tale signs of the fungal infection - ringworm. But when SAFeās veterinary team ran tests, the cultures didnāt grow like a typical ringworm fungus. Two of them didnāt grow at all!
Our medical team decided to use caution. Heinz, Kruz, and their sisters were placed in ringworm treatment. Little by little, their lesions healed and their fur grew back.
Despite weeks of improvement, their ringworm tests still werenāt showing. We needed to be absolutely sure they were healthy before sending them on their way, so we waited a week after their skin and fur fully healed before clearing them for adoption.
Heinz and Kruz spent a total of 7 weeks in SAFeās care, but that extra caution paid off. On September 19th, Heinz and Kruz, now completely healed, found their way home. Last week, their family told us these rambunctious boys are happy, healthy, and received a clean bill of health from their vet!
