The Sherwood Police Foundation was established in 2013 as an independent, non-profit organization to strengthen and promote community support for the Sherwood Police Department, promote excellence in the SPD and improve public safety in Sherwood, OR. We invest in innovative programs designed to help the SPD keep pace with rapidly evolving technology, strategies, and training. We do this by ensurin

g they have the necessary tools, resources, training and programs to effectively and safely serve our community and to create community partnerships that encourage citizen participation in enhancing the safety of Sherwood. We support our officers with resources that may not typically be included in the City’s municipal budget or that are not obtainable with existing budgets. Basically, we identify the gaps and try to fill them. The Foundation is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization registered with the IRS under Tax EIN #46-4172391. We serve as a vehicle for tax-exempt gifts and grants from individuals, businesses and philanthropies. The Foundation works closely with SPD on projects, research studies, and equipment to improve the effectiveness of police activities as well as education, training and skill development for our officers to strengthen the partnership between the police and the public. Projects that could be funded by The Foundation include:

• vital organ and side plate inserts for ballistic vests (which, while bullet proof, are penetrable by a knife)
• citizen appreciation items and other public outreach and communications materials
• K-9 program
• citizen and officer recognition
• in-car and on body cameras
• assistance for officers’ families

Public safety cannot rest on the shoulders of law enforcement agencies alone. As much as we all need the police, they need our support as well. We are their support system. Please join us in our important work by contributing as generously as you are able.

It’s being held at the Sherwood Police Department on Friday, September 11th, 2026 from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Scan the QR code or visit www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/find-drive to sign up!
