Tess Ellison, MasonEDC's new Program Manager for the USDA Farmers Market Promotion Program, will be at the Shelton Farmers Market this Saturday from 10:00–11:30 a.m. Stop by, pick up your fresh fruits and vegetables, and say hello! Tess is excited to meet local farmers, vendors, and community members while sharing more about the work ahead to support Mason County's agricultural economy.

Whether you're a longtime producer, a new farmer, or simply a loyal market shopper, MasonEDC is here to help. We support businesses, farmers, and local producers at every stage of their journey, and with agriculture ranking among Mason County's top industries, investing in our local food system is more important than ever.

A huge congratulations is in order to the organizers of the 2026 Fjordin Crossin' event that took place over the weekend. This family-friendly celebration drew a strong crowd of Vikings to the Port of Hoodsport to paddle across Hood Canal and honor an age-old tradition involving a barrel of aquavit that travels from Norway, across the Equator, and back again. The event paid homage to Norwegian heritage while adding a uniquely Hoodsport festival twist. The weather was perfect, the vibes were even better, and the community spirit was on full display. Events like these are what make our region so unique. Congratulations to all of the paddlers who made the journey, and to Hardware Distillery Co. and Be The Traveler Concierge for hosting such a wonderful celebration.

MasonEDC held its Board Retreat yesterday at the Colonial House, graciously hosted by Green Diamond.

The day was filled with constructive dialogue focused on the priorities that will help drive the organization forward. Conversations centered around our strengths, opportunities, and aspirations as we look toward the future of economic development in Mason County.

MasonEDC is grateful to Annette Roth from the Evergreen Coast Economic Development District for leading the retreat and helping guide meaningful discussions that will support our economic future.

As part of the Mason County Food Coalition, we have the opportunity to learn about and share incredible community events like this one at Preservation Ridge. Coalition members will gather to celebrate this newly acquired educational space, where youth can gain real-world, hands-on skills in a supportive learning environment.

Join us on Saturday, June 13, from 12:00–4:00 PM for an afternoon of food, music, community, and learning.
