Shelton Rotary gathered at noon on August 27 for a nice lunch and meeting. Pam Schaeffer presented certificates to our newest members, Julie and Stephen. Stephen briefly enlightened us about his important work at Habitat for Humanity. Following the presentation of our recent joiners, Rotarians got busy bagging up over 1000 diapers and baby wipes for distribution at Hope Plaza's Resource Fair being held on September 8th from 4-7pm at Shelton Methodist Church. Shelton Rotary also committed to purchasing Back to School supplies before our next meeting to distribute at the Resource Fair. Giving back to our community is integral to our purpose as Rotarians. Hope to see you at a meeting soon.

You really missed out on a terrific informational talk if you weren't at Shelton Rotary today. Katherine Johnson from the Humane Society spoke of all the positive changes and expansion happening to benefit Mason County pets and their owners. Did you know the Humane Society has provided over 15,000 low cost surgical procedures since Feb 2022, including spay and neuters? August 1, 2026 they contracted with the City of Shelton to provide services, including resources, to increase animal safety and health. Such a great organization!

Shelton Rotary continues to plan for Oysterfunk and Oysterfest the first weekend in October.

We welcome new members. Reach out and be our guest at a meeting! We would love to have you join us.

The August 6th Shelton Rotary lunch meeting was very informative and powerful. Our guest speaker was Smitty Smith, a Labor Trafficking Advocate at Innovations HTC Services, an anti-trafficking nonprofit that services all of Washington. It was amazing to hear about successes and struggles this group has while advocating for individuals through support, skill building and goal setting. Come join us to learn about services available in our community and ways you can be involved.

Today, Thursday July 16th, was another interesting day at Shelton Rotary. The Huff & Puff trail continues to be a beautiful walking path in our community. The addition of a new bench and updated engravings at the high school memorial are pretty much completed. Shelton Rotary is proud to be part of that process.

Our guest speaker today was Maria from Hope Plaza (a program housed at United Methodist Church on King Street in Shelton). What a wonderful and comprehensive program for Mason County residents to have access to at no cost. Food resources, resources fairs, educational classes related to language or work readiness, youth groups and almost anything else revolving around advocacy and support for our county residents with environmental challenges. What a heartfelt and needed program.

Want to become more involved in our community? Reach out to a Rotarian. We would love to have you join us.

Shelton Rotary was at Wilde Irish Pub today for a delicious lunch and meeting. We were fortunate to have Mike Pellicciotti, WA State Treasurer, as our guest speaker. He defined the responsibilities/workings of the Office of State Treasurer and detailed various ways our State monies are applied to operating expenses, capital budget and transportation budget. It was not only interesting but very informative.

Huff & Puff trail continues to improve with renovations to the memorial area by adding a bench and updating memorial names.

Join us for a meeting on the first, third and fourth Thursdays at noon to learn about what we do and how you can become involved.
