Mason County Disc Golf

Mason County Disc Golf We're working to make disc golf a sustainable and thriving part of Mason County. Please join us!

Established November 9, 2008, the Mason County Disc Golf Association was formed to represent and promote the sport of disc golf in Mason County. Our primary promotional methods include course construction, tournament organization, and participation in state, national, and international disc golf events. Working closely with the City of Shelton and Port of Hoodsport, MCDG manages two courses: Shelt

on Springs and Cushman Cruise. Shelton Springs is the #1 rated course in Washington and TOP 50 in the world, according to Udisc. This 18-hole course is located in the large watershed across from the YMCA near Shelton High School. Cushman Cruise is a highly rated 9-hole course in the Lake Cushman community near Hoodsport, WA. MCDGA currently has about 50 members and a six person board of directors. Our directors also hold offices in the organization as President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Course Warden(s). The Associations meets on a monthly basis and welcomes guests to attend meetings. Please contact us if you would like to attend an upcoming meeting for the date/time.

This Saturday (April 18*)! Get a free Cascade Challenge disc and help to get your favorite course ready for the season!

Bring a rake, gloves, and a bucket or other lawn tools. We have fairways to tidy and sticks to toss. When we’re done, we can toss some discs too!

Plan for 9:00 AM - NOON, meet at the dumpster by Hole 3. See you there!

*This is our annual “Earth Day Cleanup”. Earth Day is April 22, which is a Wednesday, so we’re celebrating it on Saturday, April 18 instead. 🌎

MCDG Candidate Statement - Kyle Ocean

I am Kyle Ocean, professional artist and avid supporter of all things disc golf. Proud resident of Shelton, WA and enthusiastic disc golfer in Mason County.

I have been playing disc golf in the great outdoors for over 31 years and am appreciative to live in this beautiful area with such an array of natural beauty and amazing disc golf courses all around us.

As an active member of the community, and as someone who plays these courses every single week, I will be the voice of the people for our members and will help continue the best path forward for our sport.

Please attend the annual meeting on April 23, 6:00 PM, at the Shelton YMCA.

MCDG Candidate Statement - Sharon Jacot

My name is Sharon Jacot. I am a life long resident of Mason County, where I work and have raised 4 kids with my Husband of 20 years.

I have been part of the Disc Golf Family since 2019 when my Husband and kids all started playing together. I tried my hand, unsuccessfully, at playing and found that my love for this game comes from organizing and coordinating events and tournaments! I love supporting my family and community!

Over the last 7 years, I have worked at building relationships and networking with high level leaders in and around Disc Golf. I have current working relationships and friendships with staff at the PDGA, DGPT and many other PNW disc golf organizations.

I started tournament planning in the baseball world over 20 years ago and have carried that skill over to the Disc Golf world. I have supported many Disc Golf events and tournaments in volunteer roles and coordination.

This year will be my third year coordinating volunteers , and my second year on staff for the DGPT Cascade Challenge!

I am so inspired by the work our current MCDG board has accomplished and am looking to be part of an incredible team that continues to grow this great sport, right here in my home town.

Shelton Springs is a course of love and dedication and I can’t wait to see the growth to come.

I would appreciate your support during this years elections!

MCDG Candidate Statement - Mark Hill

I’ve been playing disc golf since 2017 and discovered Shelton Springs and the Mason County Disc Golf community in 2018.
In 2020 the Mason County Disc Golf Association was in danger of disbanding and so myself along with a couple other people stepped in and ran for board positions to keep the club going as Shelton Springs is too incredible of a property to not be maintained and cared for.
I was elected that year as the club’s treasurer and I’ve been on the MCDG board now for six years, and I’m seeking re-election for an additional two year term.

During my time as a board member there have been several other people elected to the board that have the same passion and love for Shelton Springs and we all helped Mason County Disc Golf grow and flourish!

A few of our accomplishments over the past several years:
- We became an official 501(c)3! This included getting our organizational documents and practices in order and documented for future parties.
- We launched a brand new website
- We took the club from a financially floundering organization to a stable position that can afford to do course development projects and offer players additional amenities. This was accomplished by making cuts and increasing operational efficiency, as well as implementing some revenue generating policies.
- We improved partnerships with local government agencies, including the landowners of the course, the City of Shelton.
- We invested in further development of Shelton Springs, including adding a third-layout to build upon the great bones of the course and modernize the facility to keep up with the explosion of disc golf and the ever-changing environment. This includes creating a more accessible novice track and a more challenging advanced track.
- We hosted significant events such as the Shelton High School Disc Golf Club Tournament, the Washington State Amateur Championships, the Washington State Senior Games, and several women/juniors events that help to grow the sport to underrepresented communities.
- We also hosted the very first Disc Golf Pro Tour events in Washington State over the past three years, including the Cascade Challenge Elite Series in May 2025!
- These events, and the continued reputation and notoriety of Shelton Springs, brings economic development and tourism investment to our community.

In addition to being a board member, I am also the tournament director for several events that take place each year at Shelton Springs which help showcase our wonderful course.

I’d appreciate your support in this years election, taking place at the Annual Meeting, April 23, 6:00 PM, at the Shelton YMCA.
