James Douglas Cordell, class of 1984, passed away on June 7th. There will be a celebration of life on July 18th at the Anderson River Park in the Riverview site from 11am until 8 pm. Please, if you were friends of James or have good memories, please join us. Also, there will be a donation box for his daughter and two grandchildren. If you happen to have a photo of James, would you bring it? We would like to put the photos together for his daughter.

We want to give a big shout out to Tammy (Peterson) Dearman from the class of 1984. Tammy retired from teaching this year, after serving our Gateway schools for over 35 years! (Her parents, husband and children also graduated from CVHS)

She spent her first 4 years working at Toyon teaching 1st grade. She moved to Bass and spent 8 years teaching 3rd and 4th grades. She then moved to Buckeye when Bass closed and finished out her career there with 24 years teaching 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th grades. Her last 3 years were teaching the REACH class; Totaling 36 years of dedication to the profession. Please help us in congratulating her, not only for being one of our best but for the phenomenal human being she is.

🎉 BIG congratulations to Camden Travis for winning the Shasta County “I Voted” Sticker Contest! 🇺🇸🎨

Camden’s artwork will now represent Shasta County voters during the 2026 election cycle, and we think that’s something pretty special.

His winning design highlights local pride with recognizable Shasta County landmarks and a creative patriotic theme that stood out to the community and judges alike.

Jason had the chance to meet Camden and hear more about the inspiration behind the design, and it’s always awesome seeing local youth recognized for their creativity and hard work. 👏

Big shout-out to the Shasta County Elections Office for creating a fun way to get young people involved in civic engagement and community pride.

Way to go Camden! 👊
