Friends of Silver Lake CT An independent non-profit established for those who love Silver Lake and care about its future. We welcome your participation! Please join here. Thanks, Friends!

Friends of Silver Lake is a non-profit organization uniting the dispersed community that values Silver Lake and working toward a vision of future ministry in line with its historic mission. We are a self-organized group formed in November 2025, in response to the announcement that SNEUCC Board Votes to Wind Down Programming at Silver Lake. SNEUCC has articulated that they “don’t yet know what the future will hold, and (they) are committed to exploring faithful possibilities…” Friends of Silver Lake is convening alumni and supporters to explore such faithful possibilities together. Our first focus is knowing and growing the base that comprises the Silver Lake community. You can help immediately by sharing this invitation with many people and organizations as possible, inviting them to sign on. Friends of Silver Lake will offer opportunities to gather, heal, brainstorm, and take action together. Stay tuned for an announcement very soon.

A HUGE thank you to our friends at the Spring Glen Church for serving as our fiscal sponsor for the past eleven months. We couldn’t have formed FOSL without their trust and support! We are thrilled to share that First Church Glastonbury will now serve as our fiscal sponsor, while we wait for the official word from the IRS on our 501(c)(3)non-profit status. We are so grateful for their partnership in continuing the historic mission of Silver Lake!

Most of us know that Silver Lake was founded in 1957, but did you know the Mahican and Schaghticoke stewarded the land before then? On this Indigenous Peoples’ Day, make sure to read the history of Silver Lake and Mudge Pond before the UCC arrived. https://www.silverlakect.org/history

Congrats to our friends at Pilgrim Lodge on this amazing gift and affirmation of outdoor ministry! The FOSL board looks forward to transformational pledges like this one to support the future of Silver Lake. Reach out to Cindy for more info at [email protected]!

We have exciting news to share!

On September 26, 2026, Pilgrim Lodge was honored to host a visit from representatives from Pride’s Corner Congregational Church United Church of Christ including Mike, Sonja and Joe Gately, Rachel, Corie and Paul McCarthy and Alissa Halloway. Mike shared that “after prayerful consideration, discernment, and deep reflection on our journey, our congregation has made the difficult decision to close our doors.” Mike went on to explain that members of their congregation had made the choice to disperse the funds from the sale of their church to non-profit organizations “whose values and vision align deeply with our own.”

Announcing that, “it is our absolute privilege to support your vital work as part of this legacy distribution,” Mike presented a donation of $400,000 to Pilgrim Lodge on behalf of Pride’s Corner Congregational Church.

For a small organization, a gift of this magnitude has the power to be truly transformational for Pilgrim Lodge.

We look forward to exploring the new life that these resources will bring to Pilgrim Lodge and sharing the story with you along the way.
