Pisces is a 15-year-old bay Morgan cross looking for his perfect match!

This handsome guy is a forward-moving horse who enjoys having a job and is responsive to verbal, leg, and seat cues. Pisces is best suited for a confident intermediate rider who can provide calm, consistent leadership and help build his confidence under saddle.

While Pisces has plenty of “go,” he’s not looking for someone to match his energy, he’s looking for a rider who can bring a steady, confident presence and help him relax and trust his partner. With the right person, Pisces has the potential to be a wonderful riding companion.

We were thrilled to welcome Bill Lauer and Krystal Goodman to Horse Haven this week as Bill selected the pasture that will proudly bear his name through his Lifetime Paddock Sponsorship.

During our Dancing for the Horses event, Bill simply raised his hand during the Big Ask and made a remarkable commitment to the horses of Horse Haven. His generosity will help provide safe shelter, quality care, and second chances for horses in need for years to come.

Bill, thank you for your kindness, compassion, and belief in our mission. The impact of your gift extends far beyond a pasture sign, it will be felt by countless horses who find hope and healing here.

🦷🐴 Dental Day at Horse Haven! 🐴🦷

9 of our horses had their teeth floated, and every single one of them needed it!

Horses’ teeth continuously erupt throughout their lives. Because of the way their jaws are aligned, sharp points and uneven wear patterns can develop over time. A dental float is a procedure where those sharp points are carefully filed down, helping horses chew more comfortably and efficiently.

Why is this so important?

✔️ Improves feed utilization and digestion
✔️ Helps horses maintain a healthy weight
✔️ Reduces pain and discomfort while eating
✔️ Prevents ulcers and sores inside the mouth
✔️ Improves behavior and comfort under saddle
✔️ Allows us to identify broken, loose, or diseased teeth before they become major problems

Many people are surprised to learn that dental care is just as important as vaccinations and farrier work. Most horses should have a dental exam and float performed annually, while some seniors and horses with dental abnormalities may need care every six months to stay comfortable and healthy.

Our veterinary team found several sharp points, hooks, and uneven wear patterns today that would have continued to impact these horses if left untreated. Thanks to your support, these horses can now eat more comfortably and get the most nutrition possible from every meal.

Dental care is one of those behind-the-scenes expenses that makes a huge difference in a horse’s quality of life. Thank you for helping us provide the routine care our horses need to thrive! ❤️

Welcome Dimitri & Anastasia to Horse Haven!

Please join us in giving a warm Horse Haven welcome to Dimitri, our handsome buckskin gelding, and Anastasia, our beautiful white mare! 💙

While many of the horses that arrive at Horse Haven need help gaining weight, these two are bringing us a very different challenge. Both horses are carrying significantly more weight than is healthy, putting them at increased risk for metabolic issues and painful hoof conditions such as laminitis.

Over the next few weeks, our veterinary and farrier teams will be helping Dimitri and Anastasia start their wellness journey. They will be receiving:
🐴 Comprehensive veterinary evaluations
📸 Radiographs of their feet to assess any changes or concerns
🦶 Farrier trims and ongoing hoof care
🥗 Carefully managed diets and turnout plans designed to help them lose weight safely

The good news is that both horses arrived bright, alert, and in good spirits. With proper nutrition, exercise, hoof care, and monitoring, we are hopeful they will be feeling their very best in no time.

As always, every horse that comes through our gates receives individualized care based on their unique needs, and these two are no exception.

Happily Ever After for Doc & Annie Oakley!

We are thrilled to share that Doc and Annie Oakley have officially found their forever home together! These two sweet companions have settled in beautifully and are already enjoying life with their new pasture mate.

Their adopter reports that everyone is getting along wonderfully, and the pair seem to be loving their new digs, fresh grass, and all the attention they’re receiving. Seeing horses who have been through so much find a place where they are cherished is what it’s all about.

A huge thank you to their wonderful adopters for opening their hearts and home to not one, but two deserving horses. We couldn’t be happier for Doc and Annie Oakley as they begin this exciting new chapter.

✨ Meet the Zodiac Crew! ✨

Please help us welcome Aries, Libra, Scorpio, Leo, and Pisces to Horse Haven of Tennessee!

This sweet group has officially arrived and is ready for a fresh start. While they are all incredibly kind and gentle, they need a little extra TLC, plenty of groceries, and some much-needed farrier care to help them continue their journey toward recovery.

Today was a big day for the crew as they received their veterinary exams and dentals, and we’re happy to report they all did wonderfully! 🩺❤️ Next up on their road to rehabilitation: farrier care and continued weight gain.

Every horse that arrives at Horse Haven comes with medical, feed, and rehabilitation expenses, and this crew is no exception. Your support helps provide the care they need to heal, thrive, and eventually find loving homes of their own.

Please join us in giving a warm Horse Haven welcome to Remy and Maggie, our newest arrivals!

These two beautiful horses are settling in, getting to know their new surroundings, and giving us the opportunity to learn more about their personalities, preferences, and future potential. We can’t wait to spend time with them and discover what makes each of them special.

As we continue their evaluation and care, they’ll soon be looking for loving forever homes through our adoption program. Stay tuned for updates as we get to know these sweet newcomers!
