This year, there have been different news outlets reporting that there is a rise in gastrointestinal cancer and lung cancer among younger people. Diagnoses you would most likely see in the older generation.
Recently in the news, NBC posted an article about the rise of younger women being diagnosed with lung cancer without any history of smoking. Addi

There is a need to update screening guidelines so that those who do not meet the criteria due to age or past medical history can still be screened, and so cancers can be caught early and be more treatable, as well as for those who meet the screening criteria.

How can we help?

-Vote for politicians who support bills that are aimed at early detection of cancer screenings
-For elected officials, make efforts to make your voice heard through engagement
-Look at the current legislation regarding early detection
-The preventcancer.org is another excellent resource that goes over current bills in support of early detection and cancer prevention through policy, advocacy, and education
