CAUTION
A while back I was setting up an LLC online, and I applied for an EIN. I searched for "EIN registration", an IRS requirement, but without realizing it accidentally clicked on a 3rd party website, that looked just like the official IRS website.
I thought I was setting up the payment portal for the IRS payments, but as I hit submit and it charged me $300, I knew something was amiss. (An EIN is a free service)
A couple of hours of wrangling, I got a refund, and went to the actual website, and completed the process.

Today, while doing a passport search I almost experienced the same thing. There are 3rd party services who look just like the Government passport office offering to renew a passport, for a fee, but who are actually middlemen.

SO beware. Look for .gov websites and make sure you are applying to the actual agency. You can also apply through your local courts or post office.

PASSPORTS AND TRAVEL WITH FI****MS

*You MUST have a passport to travel overseas.*
I am working on the applications for the Shotgun World Shoot.
REMEMBER YOUR PASSPORT MUST BE VALID FOR 3 MONTHS after the match, so if your passport expires in 2026, YOU MUST RENEW.
Renewal online is possible, but once you submit your renewal, which takes 4-6 weeks, YOUR PASSPORT IS INVALIDATED.
So if you have trips planned, like I do, plan your dates!
FYI a new passport takes up to 6 months. (You can expedite for a fee) A lost passport is the same.

You cannot make airline bookings without a passport. and you cannot obtain fi****ms permits with a passport or airline reservation. (Exceptions apply)

For those that travel a lot, get Global Entry. It's awesome.

HOW MANY SLOTS ARE INCOMING STILL

I wish I could say, but we simply don't know. IPSC issues slots to all regions based on a formula, taking into account the match size, eligible regions, size of region, etc. (M2 is 864 athletes 12 shooters/squad)

Yesterday, Feb 18th, I received the First Award of 26 Match 2 slots (Same as the other big regions like Brazil, Philippines etc.)
Each region has until March 5th to either "Accept (and pay for) or Decline, or Accept and Request More.
(I have requested an additional 75, and hope to get 50.)

Those slots declined (returned) to IPSC get divided up and awarded to the regions (like the USA) in the second round.

WE WILL NOT RECEIVE SECOND ROUND SLOTS UNTIL mid MARCH 2026

AMMUNITION
Lan Nguyen emailed everyone today that if you want to get on the AMMO shipment, you need to email him with quantities;
HARD CUTOFF IS TUESDAY FEB 24th

Remember we now refer to World Shoots as TWO matches, MATCH 1 (formerly Prematch) and MATCH 2 (formerly Main Match), run back to back.
We will likely get about 60-70 Match 2 slots, AND AT LEAST 60 Match 1 slots. (I can get more M1 slots if needed)

So if you want to shoot WS, I recommend you order ammo.

Most if not all of you will likely be in either M1 or M2.
I cannot officially say which until I get the slots, so you order at your own risk.
This ammo shipment is the ONLY opportunity you have to ship ammo to Greece, other than traveling with ammo or buying it there.

INDIVIDUAL SLOT AWARDS
Per the policy, the individual slots are awarded according to participation in the six qualifiers:

OPEN: 120 competitors or 47% of slots;

MODIFIED: 61 competitors or 24% of slots;

STANDARD: 62 competitors or 24% of slots

STANDARD MANUAL: 15 competitors or 6% of slots

Teams; Alternates and about a dozen Individuals will be in Match 2
Everyone else will be in Match 1.
There are currently 112 SWS applicants from the USA.

I do all allocations from the Applicant Listing.

ALSO if you haven't sent in an Application, you still can, but you will likely be in Match 1, and will only be considered for an INDIVIDUAL SLOT as the Teams are already formed.

This weekend I am headed to IWA in Nuremberg, Germany, (the SHOT show of Europe) to represent the USA and our members. I will still be in touch, but time zone and hours will limit my availability. Feel free to email me as needed. Also, I will be hosting our first ZOOM meeting once I return so if you are confused, and yes, this is confusing, we will work on that in the meeting.

TO EVERYONE INTERESTED IN IPSC
For the past few years we have struggled to keep all our members updated. This has led to paperwork delays and other issues. We as a group need to be better organized and that demands a better sytstem.
I realize not everyone has FB, and not everyone reads emails, IG posts or other social media.
As the IPSC Regional Director for USPSA I try and promote all the events for our USPSA members, but there is simply no one method that works.

So going forward, I plan to use FIVE forms of communication:
1. General emails to EVERYONE interested in IPSC news and events;
2. Targeted emails focused on a specific group or demographic (for example, Handgun or Shotgun or those attending a specific event)
3. General Facebook (PUBLIC) for all events and news (THIS FACEBOOK PAGE)
4. Targeted Facebook (PRIVATE) group dedicated to a specific event - PRIVATE
5. Zoom Meetings

Some information releases will be sent to all forms of communication, hoping we reach everyone. This could be announcements of upcoming events; team announcements, etc.

Other releases will be private, such as meeting notifications, paperwork updates etc.

It will be up to you, the member, to decide which form of communication you prefer. If you don't follow FB, then email it is. If you don't read your emails, then let a friend know, so you don't miss out.

I really, really want everyone that is interested in IPSC competition to stay in touch. This is your game, if you want to play.

We are growing like a wildfire at USPSA. Interest in IPSC events is at an all time high, and growing. This year we are sending over 300 USPSA members to international matches.
I would like to believe I have had a small part in that. But this is your sport, and your game to play.

I will do what I can to help, and look forward to serving you in 2026.
