It has officially been 60 days since the very first Woolley Wranglers Adaptive Rodeo, and I still could not be more proud of what we accomplished.

This event started with a simple idea: How can we provide something meaningful for individuals with disabilities and their families right here in our own community?

When the cost of bringing in an outside organization to put on an adaptive rodeo became more than we could manage, we changed our focus. Instead of giving up on the idea, we looked at what we already had, an incredible facility, horses, a rodeo community, and most importantly, people willing to step up and help.

And they did.

With the support of the Sedro-Woolley Soroptimist, John & Hank Schmidt, Doug Wood, Angela Massingale, Michelle Knutzen, Don & Andrea Marlow, and so many incredible volunteers, we were able to bring Woolley Wranglers to life.

What started as an idea became a day filled with horses, smiles, laughter, encouragement, and opportunities for participants and their families to experience something created especially for them.

To every person who donated their time, brought a horse, helped a participant, worked behind the scenes, donated supplies, or simply believed in what we were trying to create—thank you.

Woolley Wranglers showed me exactly what can happen when a community comes together with a shared purpose.

Sixty days later, I am still just as proud—and even more excited about what Woolley Wranglers can become.

If you would like to help please reach out to [email protected].
