Next Saturday, join the Duwamish Tribe, Heron’s Nest and Shared Spaces Foundation to celebrate this historic event; the return of 3.5 acres of ancestral land to the Duwamish Tribe. It will be an intertribal and international event to share culture, traditional games, food and fun!

Time: 11:00am-4:00pm (Blessing & Lunch starts at 12:00, program starts at 1:00)

There will be something for everyone! Enjoy salmon cooked using traditional methods. Observe and participate in traditional games such as Stick Game and Bone Game. Learn about the special plants that call this land their home on a guided plant walk. Make some art to take home to remember this historic event at crafting tables. Celebrate intertribal connections by witnessing Storytelling, Song & Dance. This event is supported by the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture as part of the 2026 World Cup Community Celebrations.

Check out the new volunteer hours just posted by Tilth Alliance !

The growing season is in full swing, which means there is plenty to do at the farm! 🌱 ☀️ 💦
To keep up with bed preparation, weeding, planting, orchard upkeep, harvesting, and more, they have added two new Wednesday morning volunteer work parties. Join volunteers at Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands on Wednesdays from 10 am to 12 pm to help make our production field and our Gathering Garden all they can be!

Get outside, get your hands in the soil, and join a community of folks that make the farm the amazing space it is!

Come search for beaver signs and learn all about these important ecosystem engineers at Beaver Night, hosted by Tilth Alliance, Beavers Northwest and the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife !

Did you know? ~ The best time to water is in the early morning (between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m.) when the ground is cool and winds are calm. This prevents water from evaporating before it reaches the root zone. Its best to water heavily and deeply less frquently than it is to water lightly and daily. A bonus to this is you also get to hear the lovely bird songs in ealry morning.

Mark your calendar! Our plant sale is this Saturday from 10 til 3. Several of you pointed out that I used last year's graphic in the newsletter yesterday by mistake. The sale is indeed the 30th on Saturday. We've got 50 interesting tomato varieties and other veggies! We'll hope to see you there!
