Season 17 begins in the studio today.

We welcome into the studio as she begins creating a new work for Fall ’26.

A choreographer, filmmaker, and director, Kayla is known for bringing movement, storytelling, sound, and visual worlds into conversation with one another. Her work has been presented at Lincoln Center, the Guggenheim, American Dance Festival, and beyond.

The first day of a creation carries its own kind of energy. Anticipation and uncertainty. Curiosity and vulnerability. The excitement of possibility alongside the quiet awareness that nothing is guaranteed.

We’re grateful to begin this new season together and to take that first step into the unknown 🤍

Applications are now open for the 13th Annual Choreographic Shindig ✨

Choreographers from across the country are invited to submit new creation ideas for an opportunity to create on Whim W’Him’s dancers as part of our Fall ‘27 program.

What makes Choreographic Shindig especially unique is that the selected choreographers are chosen directly by the dancers themselves, creating a process rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and artistic connection.

Over the years, Shindig has become a space for experimentation, discovery, and the sharing of new voices and perspectives in contemporary dance.

Could you be one of the next choreographers to create for Whim W’Him?

Application deadline: June 29, 2026

Meet the choreographers from Whim W'Him Winter '26 | Jan 22 at 7:30pm

Whim W’Him opens the new year with a powerful winter program that reaffirms its place at the forefront of contemporary dance on the global stage. This program brings back three acclaimed choreographers who continue to help define the company’s artistic identity while expanding the reach of dance as a language of humanity.

FLOCK, the creative duo of Alice Klock and Florian Lochner, reunites with Whim W’Him following their memorable pandemic-era dance film “NOVA”, created for the company’s digital WHIM-IN platform. Their collaborative process, rooted in trust, empathy, and intuition, creates work known for its emotional clarity and fluid almost hypnotizing form.

Emilie Leriche’s first piece for Whim W’Him, “and if not, not”, offered a meditation on change that unfolded inward rather than forward. As she described, “Sometimes a piece can represent a crossing… not in a from-here-to-there sort of way. But rather in its depth, in its deconstruction… everything (even ourselves) is entirely changed.” Her new creation continues that journey, an inward unfolding shaped by her quiet force and introspective power.

Olivier Wevers, founder and artistic director of Whim W’Him, contributes a new creation rooted in his ongoing pursuit of connection, truth, and vulnerability. Known for his emotionally honest and visually striking choreography, his work continues to offer a distinct vision of what dance can uncover in us and between us.
