Erosion is a natural process—but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to watch, especially when it’s happening near your property.

The good news? Most shoreline erosion happens slowly, and there are ways to reduce its impact over time. Simple actions, such as maintaining native vegetation, can go a long way in protecting your land!

By planning ahead and working with nature instead of against it, you can help protect your shoreline and the ecosystems that depend on it.

Creating a planting plan for your shoreline can feel overwhelming – but a little planning up front can make a big difference!

Plants thrive when they’re matched to the conditions they’re growing in. Choosing species based on sunlight, soil type, moisture, and space helps them establish more easily and reduces the need for extra maintenance over time.

Placing the right plants in the right spots can also improve soil stability, reduce erosion, and support healthier habitat along your shoreline.

✨ Save the date! ✨ Join us for an evening exploring the 2025 salmon survey results from the Miller-Walker Basin, and a discussion on how these surveys help us understand the health of salmon runs.

We’ll be joined by Nate Ivy, from Washington State University, with updates on his latest research on the effects of tire dust on juvenile salmon living in the streams. Open to all - Free to attend.
