Kids First isn’t always asking for donations—and we’re proud of that. We respect the work of other organizations that fundraise year-round to keep their
missions going. Respect matters—and in today’s world, it’s something we believe in
showing through action, not just words. Helping
families. Honoring community. Leading with respect.
Scott County Kids First is a deeply rooted charitable organization based in Scottsburg,
Indiana, with a mission to support children and families in need. For over 30 years, it has
stood as a pillar of compassion and community action. Best known for its annual auction and telethon, held the Saturday before Thanksgiving,
Kids First raises funds through donated items and generous contributions. These proceeds
go directly toward providing essentials like food, clothing, winter coats, and shoes—
ensuring children are cared for not just during the holidays, but all year long. Kids First works hand-in-hand with local schools and community partners to distribute
resources where they’re needed most. Schools use the funds to purchase warm clothing
for students, while organizations like the Nelson Spaulding Community Clearinghouse
receive support to deliver food to families facing hardship. The charity has also stepped in
to assist children battling serious illnesses and has backed local initiatives such as youth
sports leagues and educational programs. At its core, Kids First believes in collaboration over competition. No single group can
meet every need—but by working together, they strive to make a lasting, meaningful
impact on the lives of Scott County families.
