The Judge ruled to give Eli a chance at life. He starts treatments at Levine's Children's Hospital in Charlotte, NC on June 7. (May 2021)
Eli deserves a chance at living, not left to die, untreated. The physicians group at Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSKCC) wants to consider treatment for Eli with dose intensive chemo with the recently FDA approved anti-neuroblastoma antibody Danyelza.
A recent published report shows a 36% rate of two-year progression-free survival and an overall response rate of 37% in other patients with two or more relapses of neuroblastoma using Danyelza. Eli's mother, Erica, has consented to the treatment and wants to give her child every opportunity at living as long as he's not suffering. As you can see by the numerous pictures and videos, Eli isn't suffering. Eli is now 5 years old and fighting his first relapse! (October, 2017)
Meet 22 month old, Eli Newcomb. He is a handsome little guy from Scottsburg, Virginia. He is such a good kid and so full of life. He enjoys riding his truck around the yard and hanging out with his mom. Recently, his Mom took him to the Doctor after having black eyes that wouldn't go away. After several tests, the news she received was news that no mother should ever have to hear, her very active toddler, Eli, was diagnosed with Cancer. Under the care of some of the Country's finest doctors at Duke University Medical Center, little Eli will have to undergo a long road of Chemo and surgeries. Tests are still being performed to see the extent of where else the cancer cells are in his little body. This is heartwrenching news! His Mom has had to sacrifice many things, and was glad to do it, to be by his side through these and future procedures on his long road to recovery. There are many things we can all do to make this road easier for Erica and Eli, prayer being the most powerful.
