Friendly reminder for anyone volunteering within the class, the Scio School District has implemented a new volunteer process. In addition to your background check you will need to complete a volunteer class as as well as sign a handbook. This class is REQUIRED for BOTH Centennial and Middle School. If you plan to volunteer in ANY capacity you will be required to complete the class.

The first class is going to be held this Thursday, September 3 at 5 PM in the Centennial library. If for any reason this class does not work for your schedule, do not panic. They will schedule more classes shortly.

Below is some information in regard to the new process:

Regular volunteers will need to:
1 Complete and pass a yearly background check
2 Read the District Parent & Community Volunteer Handbook
3 Attend a Volunteer Training
4 Sign the Volunteer Agreement & Acknowledgment after training

This course will take about 25-30 minutes, and once you take the course it is good forever.

Please reach out to Megan Simon with any questions!

We hope everyone enjoyed meeting their teachers, exploring their classrooms, and getting excited for the school year ahead! 🎒✏️📚

We especially appreciate everyone who took the time to stop, chat, ask questions, and sign up to volunteer. Dear Centennial Families,

We value our volunteers and appreciate the time you give to support our students and staff. This year, we are implementing a new volunteer process to support student safety and ensure clear, consistent expectations.

Regular volunteers will need to:

📌Complete and pass a yearly background check
📌Read the District Parent & Community Volunteer Handbook
📌Attend a Volunteer Training
📌Sign the Volunteer Agreement & Acknowledgment after training.

Our first Volunteer Training will be Thursday, September 3 at 5:00 p.m. in the Centennial Library. We will offer additional trainings throughout the year.

Because this is a new process, we understand that not everyone can attend a training right away. In the meantime, volunteers who have passed the required background check may continue volunteering. Those who plan to volunteer regularly will need to complete the full process.

This process keeps students safe and ensures volunteers understand expectations around confidentiality, student safety, boundaries, and school procedures.

Printed copies of the handbook and volunteer information will be available at Open House in classrooms, at the Parent Club station, and in the school office at any time.

Thank you for partnering with us and for supporting our SuperHawks!

We know this isn’t Scio, but we would love to share this information to anyone in the community that could benefit from it!

We are partnering with Marion County Sheriff’s Office to hold a Car Seat Clinic on Tuesday, August 25, from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm.

Trained Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be available to assist parents and caregivers with checking car seat installations, proper harness fit, selecting the appropriate seat or booster for their child, and answering general child passenger safety questions. Additionally, if you need assistance purchasing a car seat, we may be able to assist you.

For any questions, call our administrative office during business hours or visit https:/parentinghub.org/classes-events/carseat-clinics/ for more information.
