The Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation is a 700-acre tract of land in eastern Pennsylvania dedicated to offering Scouts the chance to experience the beauty of the outdoors. We serve over 2,300 Boy Scouts each summer. We are proud to be involved with the Forest Stewardship Program through the state of Pennsylvania. Camping is the great outdoor adventure of Scouting. The most crucial element of camping

is that each Scout should have the opportunity that the Boy Scout Handbook promises. Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation offers long term camping (6 nights) to Boy Scouts from the Hawk Mountain Council as well as other visiting Councils. Our Camp operates 7 weeks during the summer with 18 Campsites available to Troops. The Scouts sleep in platform tents on canvas cots. We offer a variety of programs, merit badges and, of course, a well stocked Trading Post. In addition to our Summer Camp Program, the camp is the center for training adult leaders in the program of Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting and Commissioner Service. Reservations for Weekend Winter Camping begin on July 1st each year. Kittatinny Lodge #5 of the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s honor society, utilizes the Reservation throughout the year for fellowship and service gatherings. Their service, combined with that of the Council Maintenance Committee, provides countless man-hours of up-keep for the Reservation.

Looking back to where it all began. This photo of the “Opening Year Staff” at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation in 1978 reminds us that every great summer starts with a dedicated team ready to make a difference.

While the camp is celebrating 100 years of camping this summer, the namesake and dedication of Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation began with this very group in 1978. The traditions, friendships, and lifelong memories that started here continue to shape what camp means today.

This weekend, our newest staff arrives to carry that legacy forward. They will spend the week preparing, learning, and building the same spirit that has made camp such a special place for generations.

Here’s to honoring the past and getting ready for a fun filled summer ahead.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Unit Leaders,

On behalf of the Hawk Mountain Council, I am excited to share some important news regarding the leadership of our summer camp program at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation.

Please join me in welcoming David McKeown as the new Camp Director for Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation Summer Camp.

Many of you already know David through his outstanding service as District Executive for the Black Rock District since 2024. During his time with the council, David has demonstrated a strong commitment to Scouting’s mission, outstanding leadership skills, and a passion for providing meaningful experiences for youth and volunteers alike.

David brings tremendous energy, organizational leadership, and a deep dedication to the values of Scouting. His work with units, volunteers, and community partners throughout the Black Rock District has helped strengthen our programs and support the growth of Scouting across the council. We are confident that his leadership will continue to enhance the summer camp experience for every Scout and leader attending Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation this summer.

We are also pleased to share that Madison Francis will continue to serve as our Summer Camp Program Director. Madison has done an outstanding job helping to shape and deliver an engaging, high-quality camp program for our Scouts and leaders. His continued leadership and experience will provide excellent continuity for our camp operations and programming team this summer.

Our camping program remains one of the most impactful experiences we provide to youth. From advancement opportunities and outdoor adventure to leadership development and lifelong memories, summer camp plays a critical role in delivering the promise of Scouting. David and Madison will work closely with our camp staff, volunteers, and council leadership team to ensure a safe, engaging, and high-quality program for all who attend.

We appreciate your continued support of Scouting and your commitment to bringing your Scouts to Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation. We look forward to welcoming you to camp this summer and are excited for the positive impact David will have on our camping program.
