Juneteenth reminds us that freedom has never been automatic. It has always been demanded, defended, and expanded by people willing to fight for it.

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free. That delay is a powerful reminder that rights on paper mean little without action, accountability, and people willing to stand up for justice.

Today, we honor the resilience, courage, and contributions of Black Americans whose fight for freedom continues to shape our nation.

As we celebrate Juneteenth, we also recommit ourselves to the work of building a democracy where freedom, equality, and justice belong to everyone.

Happy Juneteenth.

PEOPLE POWER DELIVERS.

Congratulations to Amanda Hollowell and Josh McLaurin on their runoff victories and Democratic nominations.

These campaigns were powered by volunteers, organizers, voters, and community members who refused to sit this election out. Every postcard written, every door knocked, every phone call made, and every vote cast helped make this possible.

We're proud to have endorsed both candidates and grateful to everyone who showed up to make their voices heard.

Today we celebrate. Tomorrow we keep organizing.

Thank you, Savannah.

ICYMI: At Saturday's group meeting, we shared our sample ballot for tomorrow's runoff election.

We always encourage voters to do their own research and support the candidates who best reflect their values. That said, one of the questions we hear most often is, "Who are you voting for?" So we're sharing our picks.

🚨 TOMORROW, JUNE 16, IS ELECTION DAY - AND THE LAST DAY TO VOTE. 🚨

Go to the polls prepared. Print your sample ballot or write down your choices before you arrive. Phones are not permitted while voting. πŸ“΅

Runoff elections are often decided by a surprisingly small number of votes. That means your vote carries even more weight than usual. If you've been meaning to vote, don't wait. If you've already voted, remind your friends, family, and neighbors to do the same.

Every election shapes the future of our community. This one is no exception.

Let's finish strong.

What's the plan?πŸ€”

It's a question a lot of us have been asking lately.

Join Savannah Indivisible this Saturday as we take a closer look at what happened in the primary election, what's ahead in the runoff, and the larger fights shaping Georgia's future, from voting rights to gerrymandering.

We're also excited to welcome State Representative Anne Allen Westbrook, who will discuss the upcoming special session called by Governor Kemp and what citizens can do to help influence the outcome.

If you're looking for ways to stay informed, get involved, and connect with others who care about protecting democracy, this conversation is for you.

And stick around after the meeting for a community potluck. Bring a dish to share if you'd like, or just bring yourself. It's a great chance to connect with fellow members and continue the conversation.

We love America. That's exactly why we're here.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and reaffirm a simple belief: everyone deserves the freedom to live authentically, love openly, and participate fully in our democracy.

Pride is not just a celebration. It's a reminder that progress happens when ordinary people stand together and refuse to accept discrimination as the status quo.

We're proud to stand with our LGBTQIA+ neighbors, friends, family members, and fellow advocates.

No exceptions. No second-class citizens. No going backward.

Happy Pride Month. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

Who else is happy that Buddy Carter lost his bid for Senate and will be out the door come January?

We sure are.

Now let's help make sure Amanda Hollowell is the one who takes his place.

Join us this Wednesday as we rally outside Buddy Carter's office and show our support for Amanda in the GA-01 runoff election.

We'll provide the signs. You bring the enthusiasm.
