Today we welcomed Torlef Borsting to Metro who serenaded us, perhaps a first in the club for a classification talk! Swipe to hear his opera performance he shared during our meeting!

Torlef Borsting recently moved to Savannah with his wife, Cass, and two children, Tresler & Charlie to become the Executive Director of the Savannah VOICE Festival Savannah VOICE Festival. He has worked at nearly every level from customer service to cultural development to new locations and research then shifted to singing for opera companies all over the US. The new job combines his business experience with his love of Opera. (Torlef was a Rotarian in Deland, FL.) Torlef’s sponsors are Kristin King & Jamie Arkins.

“Peace through understanding” was the theme for the 80th GRSP Conclave in Savannah! Metrotarians were involved all weekend from serving as host families, providing the Metro-style Four Way Test the only way we know how, traversing across downtown Savannah through the scavenger hunt, saving the day during one mildly stuck bathroom situation, to building goodwill and better friendships for all 38 international students who will make Georgia communities their homes for the year!

For eight decades, the Georgia Rotary Student Program has provided scholarships to advance cultural understanding and social experience through friendship. There are nearly 4000 alumni from 115 countries around the world. By immersing students in new cultures and lifestyles, we cultivate the next generation of global leaders. Georgia Rotary Clubs believe that world peace is achieved one friendship at a time. Through GRSP, we don’t just teach — we bridge the gap between nations.

Our new District 6920 Rotary Youth Exchange Southeast student Ainhoa has arrived from France! Quite the Metro welcome wagon - and special thank you to Cari and Patrick Phelps who are Ainhoa’s hosts for the next few months!
