Dear Friends and Community Partners,

I hope this message finds you well and in good spirits.

As you know, we have been eagerly preparing for the 3rd Annual Welcome Home Celebration, a day dedicated to uplifting and empowering our justice-impacted community. It is with a bittersweet heart that I share some personal news: my beloved father has recently passed away. While I take time to celebrate his life and legacy, we will need to hit the pause button on our April 29th event.

I believe my father would wholeheartedly agree that when you’re welcoming people home, it should be done with full energy and joy — and that’s exactly what we plan to do… just a little later than planned!

Please stay tuned for the announcement of our new date and time. We’re just taking a brief detour, but rest assured, the Welcome Home Celebration will be back bigger, better, and full of even more love.

Thank you for your understanding, continued support, and commitment to second chances.
I can’t wait to celebrate with you all very soon!

With gratitude,
Katina Wheeler
Chair, ARCS Reentry Taskforce

Coming home after time behind bars is more than just returning to a physical place. It’s about rebuilding a life—often from the ground up. Housing, employment, transportation, mental health care, family connections—every piece matters. And too often, those pieces are missing.

Re-entry is one of the most critical and overlooked parts of our justice system.
Without real support, people are set up to fail.
With the right support, they can thrive.

The truth is:
We can’t talk about public safety without talking about re-entry.
We can’t talk about justice without talking about second chances.
We can’t talk about community without including everyone.

If we believe in redemption, then we have to show it—in our policies, in our programs, and in our everyday actions.

Because people coming home don’t need pity—they need opportunity.

They don’t need a handout—they need a fair shot.

Re-entry is community work. And it’s time we all take part. ARCS
