Saugerties Lions Club

Saugerties Lions Club We serve the local community through various projects and donations that benefit individuals, charities and local benevolent organizations.

The Saugerties Lions Club is comprised of men and women primarily from the Saugerties area and surrounding communities. We are a diverse group with varied work and educational backgrounds. We are civic minded and are continually looking for new ways to serve our community. We meet the second and fourth Monday of every month with no meetings scheduled during the months of July and August. The Board

does meet every third Monday throughout the year. Our membership meetings begin at 6:30 PM and normally last about 90 minutes including dinner. After dinner Guest Speakers are welcome and topics usually include community needs and areas that require volunteers. We are always looking for new members who are interested in joining an organization whose only goal is to serve the community we live in. If interested please visit our website for more information on becoming a member.

Over the past year the Club has made significant investments in renovating the Lions Playground at the Cantine complex. Insurance concerns led to the necessity to replace much of the aging equipment. Replacement costs are significant. The primary objective of our fundraising efforts over the past several years was to achieve this goal. Thanks to the generosity of our community we are well on our way to making this a great new attraction for our area children. We were also fortunate to secure a grant through the Brandel-Murphy Youth Foundation, an arm of the Lions that supports youth programs. Thank you to Lion Nancy Jordan and Lion John Brink for helping to secure this grant. We look forward to making additional improvements in the coming years.
