JAB Canid Education and Conservation Center We strive to offer unique solutions to aid in the conservation and the promotion of the general welfare of all canids

The JABCECC is a non-profit (501c3) organization located in San Diego, CA. We are focused on improving the lives of canids and humans worldwide by developing novel programs that use the power of canids to heal human conditions. Through interactive educational events with our animal ambassadors, we will give a voice to their wild counterparts that are in need of conservation efforts directed at imp

roving their survival and/or quality of life. We will drive a robust understanding of the effectiveness of programs currently out there, by conducting controlled studies where needed.

Friday Chat w/Vlad

Hey, it’s Vlad. Hello, my beloved Vladiators. Today I must speak to you about a grave matter affecting the future of the Center, the canids, and, most importantly, my ability to continue bringing you the level of canid advocacy you have come to expect from yours truly.

I come to you with a very small request. The Center is trying to win a grant. Unfortunately, we do not simply receive the grant by being obviously wonderful. No…That would be too efficient. Instead, there is “online voting,” a system in which people repeatedly click an online button to register votes for us.

This is where you come in.
I, as you know, I am not the sort of fox who asks for things.
I am a giver.
I give side-eye.
I give educational enrichment.
I give visitors the unforgettable experience of realizing that foxes are natures gift to the world.
I give the world my face, which has frankly carried much of the Center’s marketing department.
And now, after years of this selfless service, I am asking for one tiny favor:

Please vote for the Center.

This grant would help the Center continue its work caring for ambassador animals, teaching humans about canids, and creating a legion of canid crusaders

I do not like to beg.
Begging is beneath me.
That is why I am assigning the begging to you.
Please vote for the Center, share the link, tell your friends, tell your enemies, tell that one Facebook friend who continually DMs you videos of foxes on trampolines.

That is it.
You do not have to spend a dime.
You simply click the link and vote everyday for two weeks. Then make sure everyone you know votes as well. If necessary, while standing in a grocery store holding a melon whisper, “Have you voted for the foxes?” until security becomes involved.

So please, Vladiators, rise up. Click the button. Share the link. Rally the humans.
Do it for the Center.
Do it for the canids.
Do it for conservation.
Do it because I have given you so much.

Vote here: https://harrahssocal.com/all-in-4-change

Voting starts June 15…set a reminder.
Thank you

There is something special about sharing joy.

Today, our volunteers spent time with our ambassador foxes—connecting with them, learning from them, and enjoying the simple privilege of being in their presence. The foxes, meanwhile, spent their time doing what foxes do best: playing, exploring, chasing one another, and sharing moments of joy with each other.

And perhaps the most unexpected part is that their joy becomes our joy.

There is something deeply uplifting about watching animals play, seeing their excitement, their curiosity, and their relationships with one another. For a little while, the distractions and stresses of everyday life fade into the background, replaced by laughter, wonder, and connection.

This is why we do what we do.

Through meaningful interactions with our ambassador canids, we hope to foster not only a greater appreciation for wildlife and conservation, but also a deeper connection—to animals, to nature, and to each other. We see it every day in our volunteers, our guests, and in the foxes themselves.

Would you be interested in a Conservation Connection Experience centered on exactly that—sharing time with our ambassador canids, learning their stories, observing their natural behaviors, and experiencing the joy that comes from simply being present with them?

Because sometimes healing doesn’t come from doing more. Sometimes it comes from connecting more—to nature, to animals, and to the moments of joy that are all around us.

Sponsor an Ambassador: Anya Besha has never been sponsored, yet she has so much personality and sass. She reminds me of Laika….

She has never had a Sponsor- she might be the only fox that has never been sponsored!! My heart aches for this baby girl- who will show her love?

Friday Chat w/ Vlad

Hey, it’s Vlad. Top O’ the morning to ya.
I would like to begin by saying that absolutely nothing unusual is happening at the center.
Nothing.

Certainly not another top-secret project involving canid ambassadors and humans walking around with the expression of people who are trying to change the world.

Nope. Just a normal week.
Now, as you know, I am a fox that can keep a secret. A vault. A fluffy, red and black vault with excellent cheekbones. People tell me things because they know I can be trusted. Also because I am usually standing nearby listening.

So when I say there is a “project,” please understand that I cannot reveal details…I mean I could but then I’d have to kill you. I can’t mention meetings. I can’t mention discussions about lighting, timing, dramatic entrances, or whether Lucan the wolf understands the phrase “hit your mark,” as opposed to “stand wherever you want because you are a wolf and you kinda do what you want.

I also cannot say that Agnes and Wilson, our coyotes, have been involved in what some might call “creative direction,” which mostly consists of entering the scene, improving it instantly, then running away when the wind blows cause they think the sky is falling…coyotes are a bit skittish.

And I certainly cannot say that I, Vlad, have been asked to contribute my considerable presence, expressive face, and natural command of emotional tension. Hypothetically, though, I would be carrying the entire thing.

Lucan brings gravitas, which is a fancy word meaning “large wolf energy.” Agnes brings mystery. Wilson brings coyote chaos. And I bring range. I can look noble, I can look mischievous, I can pull off the leading man/fox role…that, my friends, is art.

People keep using words like “story,” “message,” and “capturing the moment.” They have also used the phrase “please don’t eat that,” which I assume is technical language. For now, I can only say this, something is coming. Something with paws, heart and teeth. Something that will change the way you view the world.

So stay tuned, my Vladiators.
The world may not be ready.
But hopefully you are.

POV: You thought you were coming to a calm wildlife sanctuary…
…but instead you walked into ✨Fox WWE: Backyard Edition

Today’s scheduled activities included:
• stealing toys from siblings
• dramatic zoomies for absolutely no reason
• screaming over possession of a leaf
• launching themselves off logs like tiny caffeinated parkour athletes
• acting personally victimized by enrichment they begged for 3 seconds earlier

Meanwhile the humans are over here saying things like:
“awww they’re so graceful”

Ma’am.
One of them just body-checked another into the kiddie pool over a pinecone.

Nature is healing. Chaos is thriving. The foxes remain unemployed

Friday Chat w/ Vlad

Hey, it’s Vlad. Happy Friday my friends. It has been a very busy few weeks here at the center, and I will have more to report on that at a later date. But today, I will be turning my attention to a topic that, in the historic annals of important topics, would be a strong contender for number one…That topic is of course me.

As you all know, I am quite humble by nature. Just a mild mannered, forest adjacent fellow, burdened by a face of considerable legend. I’m not one to toot my own horn, but when this latest picture of me came across my desk all I could say was “toot, toot”. And just for clarity, when I say “desk”, I mean a wooden platform we generally use for sunning our fluffy buns.

The photo is quite stunning and highlights a quality about me that scientists refer to as, “ridiculously photogenic”. I mean just look at my face…Mysterious. Handsome. Like I know ancient secrets. And then there’s my mouth, slightly open, as if I am about to say something profound. Actually, if my memory serves me, I was saying, “that camera looks tasty”. Of course, we must also discuss the fur. My fur is not merely fur. It is a banner of dusk, flame, and shadow, as if sunset got caught behind me and decided to stay. It is the place where a campfire meets the dark edge of the woods. In short…delightful.

If this portrait were hanging in a museum, the line to gaze upon my beauty would stretch for miles. People would wait hours for the chance to spend a few seconds in the presence of perfection. Some would weep softly. Others would whisper, “Is he real?” And the museum staff would say, “Yes, and he’s incredible .”

Fortunately, thanks to me, you don’t have to travel to a museum to soak in my glory. You can do it from the comfort of your own home.

You’re welcome.
