Pepperwood

Pepperwood We're leaders advancing the health of N. CAโ€™s land, water and wildlife through research and education.

Founded in 2005 by Jane and Herb Dwight, the Pepperwood Foundation owns and operates the preserve and the Dwight Center for Conservation Science. As a 501(c)(3) public charity, the mission of Pepperwood is to advance science-based conservation throughout our region and beyond. We work with researchers from around the world to address challenges facing land and water managers today and we translate

results into educational tools and practical solutions for our community. All of our programs serve as learning models throughout Northern California and beyond. Pepperwood produces the science needed to understand our changing environment and teaches people of all ages how to care for our natural places. Located in eastern Sonoma County, Pepperwood manages a 3,200-acre nature preserve located in the heart of a globally-recognized biodiversity hotspot. The reserve is an important refuge for over 750 varieties of native plants and 150 species of wildlife including birds, reptiles, and mammals representing California's diverse climates.

It's officially official! Grassland monitoring May is in full swing ๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŒฑ For the past 13 years, our research team has returned to the same grassland sites each spring to track how plant communities change over time in response to climate change, wildfire, drought, and land stewardship practices like grazing and prescribed fire.

We want to promote our partner researchers in the Department of Wildlife at Cal Poly Humboldt who are teaming up with True Wild Conservation to conduct a survey to evaluate residentsโ€™ perception of wildlife in the Sonoma County area. The primary benefit to completing this survey is increasing our understanding of how local human-wildlife interactions and property factors may play a role in resident perceptions of wildlife. This may reduce human-wildlife conflict in your area and will allow wildlife biologists and natural resource managers to better communicate with the public.

The survey is fully online and anonymous. The time it takes to fill out the survey is approximately 15-20 minutes. If you live in Sonoma County and are willing to answer a few questions, you may access the survey here: https://humboldt.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bxOIey3BD6anSXc

Survey will close on March 13. Feel free to share with friends and networks in Sonoma County. ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑ

This survey aims to understand the interest and experience of Sonoma and other nearby County residents with wildlife in their area.
