Amigas y Amigos. Una oración por la familia y comunidad de Don Lorenzo y hay que seguir abogando aquí en casa por los nos.

Rest in power, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo.

On July 7, immigration agents in unmarked cars pulled over 52-year-old Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a father, husband and construction worker in Houston.

Lorenzo was on his way to pick up his crew for a job. He had made the U.S. home for him and his family for over 35 years. Last week, Lorenzo was shot and killed by immigration agents.

We honor his life and our hearts are with his family.

Frank and Irene Palomino Elementary School will reflect the family’s role in the 1946 Mendez, et al v. Westminster School District case that led to desegregation in California schools.

If you are graduating in 2026, have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and live in one of the participating counties in California, you could be part of Becas Alas.

Through this regional IMME Becas initiative, in collaboration with the Mexican Consulates in Fresno, Los Angeles, Oxnard, San Bernardino, and Santa Ana, scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $1,500 USD will be awarded to students of Mexican or Latino heritage accepted into a university or community college.
