This election comes down to a few decisions: will local police cooperate with ICE, and will Congress keep sending military aid to Israel? Both get decided by who shows up to vote.

That's why we're raising $10,000 today. It funds 10 field canvassers reaching 8,000+ Arab American & anti-war voters in Orange County before Election Day.

“Thinking about East County, in particular, and El Cajon … there's an enormous Iraqi, Chaldean and Assyrian population that is not being accounted for correctly,” said Ryan Fan, advocacy & campaign manager at Majdal Center - مركز مجدل: Arab Community Center of San Diego. “There's an enormous Syrian population here that's not getting counted. There's an increasingly large Afghan population that's not getting counted as well. Among many others, right?”

For decades, the U.S. Census has counted Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) communities as white. State laws and updated federal policies are changing this, but implementation has been slow.

After years of advocacy and community engagement, on August 23, 2022 the Anaheim City Council voted in favor of designating a portion of the Brookhurst corridor—from Broadway to Ball—as Little Arabia District.

A historic community victory.

Four years ago, on August 23, 2022, Anaheim City Council officially designated a portion of the Brookhurst corridor as Little Arabia—a historic milestone after decades of advocacy by Arab American residents, families, and business owners.

Little Arabia’s story is one of community, entrepreneurship, culture, and perseverance. This weekend, help celebrate that legacy by visiting a local restaurant, bakery, market, shop, or other family-owned business.

At our Arab American Heritage Gala — Showing Up Like Hope — Cenk Uygur of sat down for a conversation that cut straight to the heart of what so many of us are feeling. About money in politics. About AIPAC’s grip on our elections. About the war lobby that keeps Washington aligned with pro-war policies while our communities pay the price.

But more than anything — he talked about what happens when we stop waiting for permission and start organizing.
