Jason Legler, Community Resource Specialist for North Idaho, spent 30 years serving his country as a Green Beret. These days he is logging miles on back roads and showing up where veterans need him most — not just to solve the immediate problem, but to help them build a path forward for the long term.

🎨 Partnership in action!
We recently sat down with William Brasch, Development Director at Sandpoint Area Seniors, Inc., to talk about the incredible work they’re doing to bring people together, support local seniors, and create meaningful opportunities for community connection.

One of those opportunities is Art Alive — an evening featuring seven local artists creating original works live, followed by a live art auction supporting Sandpoint Area Seniors and the programs they provide to older adults in our community. (Sept 12 @ The Little Panida Theater)

The McGhee Road bus shelter is officially underway!

This week, our 50+ volunteer dream team, Randy and Dave, rolled up their sleeves and got the concrete poured for our new ADA-accessible SPOT bus shelter and wayfinding hub at 130 McGhee Road.

This project started with an incredible $12,000 Community Challenge grant from AARP Livable Communities and AARP Idaho, and watching our community step up alongside that investment has made it even more special.

A huge THANK YOU to Randy and Dave for donating their time, talent, and plenty of muscle — and to Lake Pre-Mix Concrete for generously donating the concrete to help bring this project to life. ❤️

We are so excited to watch this take shape! Soon, SPOT riders, including older adults, veterans, job seekers, and neighbors accessing services across our campus will have a safe, accessible, weather-protected place to wait for their ride.

Concrete down. Shelter coming next. Stay tuned!

Back to school season means one thing at Sandpoint High: students earning real credentials before they even graduate. 👨‍🏫🎓

CNA certifications. Welding. Commercial driver's licenses. All funded through Idaho's $4,125 advanced opportunity program, often at little to no cost to families. 🙌

We sat down with Jeralyn Mire and Alex Gray from the CTE program at Sandpoint High School to hear how it's happening, and got a first look at the brand new CTE Center opening this fall. ✨🍂🧑‍💻

Bill Pfinsgraff with the Idaho Community Foundation breaks down why unrestricted gifts, the ones without strings attached, often do more good than the ones tied to one very specific cause. Sometimes the best way to help is to just let the organization decide where it's needed most. 🤝

Stick around to the end, where we put Bill's own tuba (and handedness) credentials to the test. Spoiler: it gets seriously silly, as some nonprofit work has to be. 😆

Building something that lasts, that's part of what our internship is about. ✨🙋🙋‍♂️

A Little Birdie Told Me podcast exists to shine a light on the missions and the people behind them, the nonprofits, the volunteers, the community members quietly doing the work. Our interns help make that storytelling possible, and along the way they build the systems that'll help the next person walk in and feel confident from day one.
