CALICO It is a premier global association dedicated to computer-assisted language learning (CALL).

CALICO (Computer Assisted Language Instruction Consortium) is a recognized international clearinghouse and leader in computer-assisted learning and instruction. CALICO began mainly as a group of people interested in using and producing technology-based materials for second/foreign language teaching. After more than 25 years of growth and experience, CALICO now includes language educators, programm

ers, technicians, web page designers, CALL developers, CALL practitioners, and second language acquisition researchers--anyone interested in exploring the use of technology for language teaching and learning. Membership Benefits include reduced rates for the CALICO Journal, publications in the CALICO Book Series, attendance at CALICO's Annual Conferences, participation in CALICO's Special Interest Groups, and direct access to sister organizations and other organizations. The CALICO Journal, a thrice-yearly publication, is devoted to the dissemination of research on the use of technology in language learning. The CALICO Book Series produces an annual volume focusing on current themes in the profession. Recent titles include CALL in Limited Contexts, The Next Generation: Social Networking and Online Collaboration in Foreign Language Learning, and Opening Doors through Distance Language Education: Principles, Perspectives, and Practices. The CALICO Book Series responds to the information needs of language teachers, learners, and others who use educational technologies

CALICO's Annual Conferences provide a forum for discussions of state-of-the-art educational technology and its applications to teaching and learning languages. Each conference features preconference workshops, papers, software demonstrations, panels, and special interest group meetings for participants at all levels of expertise. Conference attendees have described CALICO's conferences as "an excellent opportunity to network with others in the field" and "a great friendly ambiance combined with solid work." CALICO's Special Interest Groups (SIGs) allow members to become involved in ways that are individually most meaningful and to network with other members who have similar interests. CALICO also provides a gateway to sister organizations such as EUROCALL, IALLT, and WorldCALL and serves as a portal to other organizations' activities such as the annual meeting of ACTFL.
