Batteries may be small, but they contain materials that can harm people and the environment if they are not handled properly. That’s why batteries are considered household hazardous waste (HHW) and should never be placed in your garbage, recycling, or organics cart.

In-ground composting is a super-easy way to keep food scrap nutrients in your landscape, without a lot of work.
Direct Feed: Worms and soil microbes travel in and out of the holes in the buried bin, breaking down food waste and delivering fertilizer right to the root zone...
Odor & Pest Control: Because the organic matter is buried underground and covered with a secure lid, it stays discreet, odor-free, and protected from animals...
Low Maintenance: You do not need to turn a heavy pile or harvest finished compost manually; the soil and worms process the waste in place.
Just pay attention to your curbside service provider's "accepted" organics materials as a guide for what to put in it.

When possible, storing similar items together can help them from getting lost and make planning meals and snacks easier. It’s just like sheep herding so nobody gets lost, sort of. Consider organizing your fridge and pantry into breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack sections. Try different approaches to organizing your food that matches the way your household consumes so no items get lost. Find even more ways to take climate action at, www.paloalto.gov/foodwaste
