HOW DOES OUR GARDEN GROW?

This year we initiated the season with a hot house built using weathered pallets, covered in plastic, demonstrating the potential of innovative gardening practices.
Interior shelving was also built by pallets, providing sufficient space for the numerous trays of seed.
Thank you to Oak Ridge Church for building the outside frame and HALOs Facility Manager Kenny Passwaters and HALO guests for completing the project.
Our Journey of Hope participants attended informative classes taught by long time local farmers, Bryan Toadvine, Sr and Robin Schevel, offering expert instruction on growing their own garden.
Once classes were completed they applied what they learned with hands-on experience: weeding, planting seeds, watering, and transplanting.
Thank you Bryan and Robin and JOH.
Today our garden is blooming with vibrant hues of green. Each day there is new growth.
Soon our cafe will be preparing wholesome meals using the vegetables from our garden

Thank you to Mayor Randy Taylor and City of Salisbury leaders for stopping by HALO to serve in our cafe and to take a tour of our facility.

HALO appreciates our City leaders taking time to serve with us, meet our guests, and learn about our next Big project- Building of a Mental Health Shelter and Father with children shelter.

Guests enjoyed a delicious BBQ chicken tonight prepared by the Salisbury Elks. Baked beans potato salads, fresh sliced watermelon and delicious desserts.
The cafe crew dressed up for Memorial Day and put on their best smiles. Thank you Cafe Manager Barbara Schroeder and team for a great night.

What a FANTASTIC group of kids!

HALO was blessed today to have Salisbury Christian School 5th graders visit with us, serve with us and learn about homelessness.

They also collected non-perishables. As the Director pointed out just that act of kindness alone, they became part of HALOs team helping serve some of those people (leaf) on our Tree of HOPE

One young lady shared at the end. One thing that she said.." I hope we all pray for the homeless and for those who serve here.: (Words may not be exact)
but what a powerful message that 5th grader spoke.

Thank you Salisbury Christian School for teaching such strong biblical principles. Reinforcing what is being taught at home. "TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO..."

HOW OUR GARDEN GROWS

Can you believe it? Planting season has arrived at HALO's Harvest of Hope Garden. Once again we will be sharing with you each Thursday "How our garden grows"

Of course, first and foremost, the soil needs to be "good soil." Each year, volunteers and guests join together to rid the raise beds of any weeds, then the soil is tested to ensure we have a bumper crop.

Check back in next Thursday to see how our newly built greenhouse is producing some beautiful seedlings for this years planting
