OTD in 1688, Baptist preacher and author John Bunyan died in England.

Best known as the author of The Pilgrim’s Progress, Bunyan authored nearly 60 works during his lifetime. He also spent 12 years in prison after refusing to stop preaching without the approval of the established church.

Bunyan could have secured his freedom by agreeing to quit preaching but he refused.

His years in prison instead became some of his most productive as a writer, and "The Pilgrim’s Progress"became one of the most influential Christian books ever written.

OTD in 1873, 32-year-old Lottie Moon left the United States for China, just weeks after being appointed as a missionary by . After more than a month at sea, she arrived in China and began a missionary ministry that would last nearly 40 years.

Moon became one of the most influential missionaries in Southern Baptist history, advocating not only for reaching China with the gospel, but also for more missionaries and greater support from Baptists back home.

“If I had a thousand lives to give, I would give them all for China.”

Abound is a one-day training designed to help you connect with other leaders, share ideas, and gain insight into new resources that will strengthen your ministry. Whether you’re coming as an individual, with a group, or representing an association, you are welcome! This event is open to anyone seeking to grow in leadership and missions and ministry engagement.
