GRACES in a nonprofit organization based in Salisbury, North Carolina which funds educational projects in Guatemala. GRACES primary focus is a school in Jocotenango, Guatemala, Escuela Integrada de Niños Trabajadores, as well as an after-school program, Ahava Ministries. Escuela Integrada started in 2003 to provide quality education
to children who were victims of child labor. Today, more than 170 children and adolescents benefit from education, nutrition and support services offered through the school. Escuela Integrada desires for its children to be healthy physically, emotional and spiritually. Escuela Integrada works not only with the children, but also with their families, striving for a healthy family atmosphere.

This week we had the visit from ! They spent time learning about GRACES and our mission. Together, we packed food bags and visited the homes of some of our students, experiencing firsthand the impact of our programs. Thank you for your visit. We loved having you with us!

This week we hosted two Vision Trips at the same time, which meant putting every resource to work! For the first time, we needed all three of our micro buses on the road and that included our brand-new bus!

It still doesn’t have a name.

Thank you to everyone who shared name suggestions! We’ve added all of your suggestions in the comments below. Now it’s time to vote, the suggestion with the most likes will officially become the name of our new bus. Cast your vote!

We got our VERY FIRST SPONSORSHIP of the Summer of Sponsorships!!!

During their visit to Guatemala, they jumped into service projects, cultural activities, spent time with our students, and experienced firsthand the mission of Escuela Integrada and the community we serve.

And now… they officially became sponsors!

Thank you for choosing to walk alongside one of our students through sponsorship. This connection is so much more than financial support, it’s encouragement, relationship, and an opportunity to help a student continue pursuing their education and future.

This week we got to welcome the Yadron family and friends for their Vision Trip! Families and friends from Illinois and Indiana, many visiting Guatemala for the first time, jumped right in with home visits, Family Night prep, Field Day, and so many other moments in between.

Their trip may be coming to an end, but we’re really grateful for the time we shared, the conversations, the laughter, and the way they connected with our community this week.

One of the most special parts of our sponsorship program is seeing relationships grow between students and sponsors over time through letters, encouragement, prayers, and shared moments together.

What an exciting day at our race Corriendo por Oportunidades!

Organized by the Escuela Integrada staff and our Guatemalan local board, this event brought together so many people from the community for a day full of energy, joy, and opportunities.

We had two categories:
🏅 3K for kids under 7 years old
🏅 6K free category

Congratulations to all of our winners who received amazing prizes, and thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and cheered along the way. Seeing our community come together like this made the day truly special!

Fernanda once walked the halls of Escuela Integrada as a student. Today, she serves as the Sponsorship Coordinator at GRACES, where she helps students experience the same love, support and encouragement that changed her life.

Becoming a sponsor for a student at Escuela Integrada fosters hope. This summer, our goal is to connect 50 new sponsors with students at Escuela Integrada. Sponsorship means so much more than education for many of our students—it means feeling seen, cared for and loved.
