Today, members of Salisbury Firefighters IAFF Local 4694, alongside Chief Carrigan, traveled to Boston to join thousands of firefighters in honoring Boston Firefighter Robert “Bobby” Kilduff Jr. A 24-year veteran and third-generation firefighter assigned to Rescue Company 2, “BK” made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on May 23rd while battling a three-alarm fire in Dorchester. Beyond the firehouse, Bobby was the kind of guy who made everything work behind the scenes for the PFFM, and the appreciation for everything he’s done over the years runs deep across the entire Massachusetts fire service.

Our hearts are with his family and the entire Boston Fire Department. Rest easy, Brother

Robert “BK" Kilduff, Jr. exemplified what it meant to be a union firefighter. BK was passionate about his profession, assigned to Rescue Company 2, and passionate about improving the lives of his fellow brothers and sisters, working as a staff member of the PFFM for the last 15 years.

More than anything else, BK was passionate about being a father. The PFFM sends all of our love and support to both of his children and will stand with Boston Firefighters Local 718 IAFF to ensure they have whatever they need.

Rest easy BK.

First busy summer day for Salisbury Firefighters Local 4694.

16 calls over our 24-hour shift, including 7 back-to-back calls in under 2 hours — several for heat-related emergencies at the beach, with two dispatched less than a minute apart.

As the temperatures rise and the beach crowds return, a few reminders:
🌡️ HEAT
• Drink water early and often — the ocean breeze can fool you
• Take breaks, find shade, and know the signs of heat exhaustion
• Check in on elderly family, friends, and neighbors
🌊 WATER
• Ocean water is still only 53°F — cold shock is a serious risk, even on hot days
• Lifeguards are not on duty yet
• Don’t swim alone, and keep a close eye on children near the water
Stay safe, stay hydrated, and respect the ocean.
