My little lodge means a lot to me. Monday night we raised a dad as a Master Mason and the Wednesday night that dad got to play a major role in his son being made a Master Mason. He memorized a major role in one day so he could be there for his son. I love being a Mason for these relationships

Salado Masonic Lodge raised TWO Master Masons within a 48-hour period this week. This is a significant accomplishment for a small Lodge, but what makes it EVEN MORE unique is the fact that our Degree Teams made a FATHER and SON Master Masons in two evenings.

On Monday, February 23rd the father, Bascomb Lee Herd, III completed the Third Degree.

On Wednesday, February 25th the son, Nathan Michael Herd became a Master Mason, and his father participated in the Degree. I want to thank the Degree Teams for doing a great job. The first photo is from Monday, the second is from Wednesday. (Photo credit Jason McIntyre).

Salado Lodge #296 will hold an Open Meeting Monday, October 6th. You are cordially invited to join us as we celebrate Oktoberfest. Dinner will be at 6:30, with the food truck Check Point Germany on the grounds. The Worshipful Master will declare an Open Meeting at 7:30, and we will have an historical presentation on ”Mozart and Masonry“ by Brother Robert William Marshall, Past Master of Waco #92. Celebrate Okoberfest!

I am so proud to be Worshipful Master of Salado Lodge #296. The Salado Lodge Flag Program serves over 900 subscribers. Our Lodge Brothers will be picking up the flags in the next couple of days. The funds from this program make it possible for Salado Masonic Lodge #296 to give thousands of dollars annually through scholarships, teacher honorariums, several community programs, and more. Salado #296 Lodge Brothers will be delivering HUNDREDS OF FLAGS throughout the Village and neighborhoods. The flags will stay out until shortly after 9-11. Please watch for them as they deliver and pick up flags.

Renewal invoices for our January subscribers for 2025 are being sent out now. Quickbooks allows us to now text as well as email invoices, so we are doing both. We want to reach our customers in the most convenient way possible. We have increased the price for the annual subscription to $48, but have added two holidays to the program: Juneteenth and Election Day. The cost of our flags have doubled since our last price increase, the cost of poles have gone up, storage has gone up. Every cost has gone up in recent years. We created a spreadsheet of man hours and miles traveled by the Brothers to deliver flags. In 2024, we estimate that we traveled 6,882 miles (from our homes to the routes and back home again) and spent 908 man hours on this program. We also replace 300 flags per year, due to damage. They are properly retired by the local VFW. This program allows our small town lodge to support scholarships, back to school supplies, bikes for underprivileged children in SISD, Heart and Hands Ministries, Salado Senior Center, Masonic Charities (Shriners Hospitals, Scottish Rite Hospitals). We have Brothers who travel from Round Rock, Killeen, Copperas Cove, Temple, Belton and beyond for this program.
