We don’t know where this month went, seems like just last week we were drinking wine and raising a few bucks for the ducks. Thank you to everyone who attended our spring ladies event!
While this was our last in person event for a few months, we look forward to seeing you again soon! 🦆

To all those that supported DU through our chapter, whether that was through our annual banquets, bingo’s, ladies events or one of our raffle calendars these last few years-
THANK YOU. 💚🦆

HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE!

When it launched in 2019, “Conservation For A Continent" set an ambitious $3 billion goal.

Now, it has set a record, and we are completely in awe of what this community has accomplished together!

Together, Ducks Unlimited volunteers and supporters have generated an unprecedented $4.06 BILLION for wetlands conservation! A first-of-its-kind achievement for landscape conservation!

Behind every dollar raised and every acre conserved is a person who showed up. None of this happens without YOU! Every banquet ticket, every donation, every hour volunteered, it all added up to something the conservation world has never seen before. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!

Here's to the wetlands. Here's to the waterfowl. And here's to the greatest conservation community on the planet!

This is cool! 👀🐤 Purdue's AeroEco Lab has mapped where you can find most northbound migratory birds resting while in Indiana their long journey to Michigan or Canada.

While you can find some anywhere, the yellow and red zones show where you can spot higher concentrations of migratory birds. These are more focused on the birds that will NOT stay in Indiana, but rather use Indiana as a pitstop on their northbound trip.

During May, we typically have 2-10+ million birds flying in Indiana airspace every night. We are at peak migration for Indiana.

These birds love to find dense pockets of forest, wetlands, with ample water access.

INCREASE YOUR CHANCES
If you want to increase how many birds stop by your backyard, you can:
▪️Plant native shrubs — dogwood, spicebush, and viburnums provide food and shelter for migrating birds

▪️Minimize insecticides, especially along woodlot and garden edges where birds forage

▪️Provide water — a simple birdbath or small water feature can be a lifeline for an exhausted migrant

▪️Turn off unnecessary outdoor lights at night

We’ve got some pretty amazing ones on our committee.. wishing all the ladies a very Happy Mother’s Day today. 💜🦆
