A more energy-efficient home means lower utility bills, greater comfort, and a healthier place to live.

October 30th is National Weatherization Day, and this year marks the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Department of Energy's Weatherization Assistance Program.

Since 1976, the program has helped income-eligible households reduce energy costs through improvements such as insulation, air sealing, heating and cooling system upgrades, and other energy-saving measures.

Nationwide, the program weatherizes approximately 35,000 homes annually, saving participating households an average of $372 a year in utility costs, according to the National Community Action Partnership's 2025 report.

For seniors, families, and people living on fixed incomes, those savings can make a meaningful difference in household budgets.

At St. Johns Housing Partnership, we understand that affordable housing means more than the cost of a mortgage or rent. It also means having a safe, comfortable home that families can afford to maintain.

Community connections are at the heart of what we do at St. Johns Housing Partnership.

Dona and Gina represented SJHP at West Augustine’s 2026 “Keep Calm and Walk for Cancer” event in October, joining neighbors for a day of celebrating cancer survivors, supporting those facing cancer, and remembering loved ones lost.

Throughout the event, community members stopped by our table to share their experiences with SJHP and learn more about our rental opportunities, homes for sale, and home repair services.

It was a beautiful, breezy day filled with meaningful conversations and opportunities to connect with the people we serve.

We're grateful to have been part of an event that brought our community together for such an important cause. Hearing our neighbors' stories reminds us why our work matters and inspires us to continue making a difference in St. Johns County.

Help stock local food pantries for the holidays!

The annual Rock the Pantries Food Drive returns Friday, November 6th, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre, 1340C A1A South, St. Augustine, and Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, 1050 A1A North, Ponte Vedra Beach.

Last year, our community donated more than 31,000 pounds of food!

This year's drive will benefit 14 local food pantries, including Epic Cure, Inc., St. John's Ecumenical Food Pantry, Pie in the Sky St. Johns, Betty Griffin Center, St. Francis House & Port in the Storm, Home Again St. Johns, and the Homeless Coalition St Johns County, serving families, seniors, and individuals experiencing food insecurity throughout St. Johns County.

Donations of the following items are needed:

Peanut butter and jelly
Canned soups, stews, meats, beans, and vegetables
Canned, dried, or plastic-packaged fruits and applesauce
Pasta, rice, and instant potatoes
Cereal, granola bars, nuts, and crackers
Cooking oils
Diapers, baby food, and hygiene products

Please avoid glass containers, expired food, and items requiring refrigeration.

Simply drive into the main parking lot at either location, where staff will collect your donations. Donors can also enter to win a merchandise package from the two venues!

Every donation helps fill the shelves and support our neighbors in need this holiday season!

Seven projects completed, countless hours of volunteer service, and a community coming together to make a difference!

We had an excellent turnout for Make a Difference Day on Saturday, October 24th!

Thanks to an incredible group of volunteers, all seven projects were successfully completed, helping improve the homes and lives of neighbors in need.

At Vested Metals International, we believe strong communities are built when we invest in the people who make them thrive. We’re proud to support the important work of St. Johns Housing Partnership and its mission to provide safe, affordable housing and critical home repairs for families, veterans, seniors, and individuals with disabilities throughout St. Johns County.

On Thursday, October 8th, community leaders and local businesses gathered for the Raise the Roof Awareness Luncheon to learn more about SJHP’s impact and launch its inaugural capital campaign. The program also recognized three individuals for their contributions to our community:

Lack of affordability hurts everyone.

Local government, economists, planners, and the media often focus on the extremes of real estate -- the high-end properties or luxury homes, particularly in the suburban fringe and planned communities. Yet, to a large extent, they ignore the most critical issue: affordability. It's time to take this issue seriously.

There’s still time to sign up for Make a Difference Day!

Our team is hard at work today prepping homes, gathering supplies, and making sure every detail is ready for Saturday’s Make A Difference Day — one of our favorite days of the year!

More than 125 amazing volunteers will roll up their sleeves to tackle 15 community projects across St. Johns County — painting, repairing, building, and showing what it really means to care for your neighbors.

We can’t wait to see everyone in action tomorrow, making homes safer, brighter, and filled with hope. Stay tuned for updates — and a big thank you to everyone helping make this happen!

When essential services are reduced, the people who need them most feel the impact.

Amendment 3 could make it harder for Florida families to access healthcare, food assistance, crisis support, and other vital nonprofit services.

For seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and families already struggling with housing costs, fewer services could mean even greater challenges.
