Meet Tiffany!

Tiffany is about a yr old spayed female mixed breed that transferred to us from Kankakee County Animal Control a couple months back. She went on a couch crasher recently and while it was clear she wasn’t used to home life, she settled in after the first day fairly well.

Tiffany is dog friendly, all people friendly and is looking for an active family to welcome her home to! She has never lived with a cat to our knowledge and will need proper training and guidance with them. Over her couch crasher stay she reported to be observant but not obsessed with the chickens and likely could be trained to live with them without issues as well.

Tiffany is timeless, elegant, and impossible not to fall in love with. Apply to adopt her below to be the first family this gal has ever known.

Our Pembroke/Hopkins Park Vaccine Clinic date has changed to NOVEMBER 14th!

WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS!! Send us a DM if you can help!

Every year we host a vaccine clinic in Pembroke, this year will be our 9th clinic.

Last year, we vaccinated more than 150 dogs and cats and helped several families get their pets signed up for spay/neuter services.

Each year, we work with Mayor Hodge to provide affordable vaccines and education to the community.

This year, we’re looking for volunteers and/or vet techs to help with quick exams and vaccines. If you are a vet tech or know one who is able to help please send us a message!

📅 November 14, 2026

🐾 Help us make this year’s clinic another success!

**This clinic is open to Hopkins Park/Pembroke residents only**

Meet Bruce!

Bruce is a neutered male brindle pocket pittie mix who is just under a year weighing just about 30lbs and is hoping his stay with us is extremely short!

Bruce is dog friendly, good with kids and with proper introductions and training will be fine with cats also. His foster home during our construction had people and animals of all sizes and Bruce did his best to adapt to his temporary home.

Bruce had finally learned what a loving home is all about, possibly for the first time in his life and is at our shelter now waiting to meet you!

Bruce is hoping you’ve made it this far into his post to fill out an application to meet him using the link below.

Meet Cookie! 🍪

Cookie has been with us since May and we weren’t sure why! She’s been everywhere: Deer Ridge Barn Wedding and Events puppy yoga, Kankakee Farmers' Market and even a ton of dog dates! This gal will succeed in most homes with continued guidance and other pets as well!

We aren’t exactly sure what Cookie is mixed with, but our best guess is a pocket pittie mixed with a smaller breed such as a Chihuahua or Miniature Pinscher. She’s currently under 30lbs and is about 8 months old.

Cookie is now ready for adoption and looking for a family to call her own.

Meet Mouse!

Mouse is a young male polydactyl kitten that would found in aroma park several months back all my himself. He was a very sick little kitten who spent some time in foster becoming the healthy and good looking boy he is today!

Mouse has been living with Jasper, another kitten we posted on Sunday as well as several adult cats and a dog. He is still pretty shy, but a very sweet boy.

Just as a reminder, We require two or more kittens to be adopted together if no other felines reside in the home.

Apply to adopt Mouse!

Meet Buffy!

Buffy is one of the 11 week old Halloween named puppies who has had the pleasure of going home with one of our staff to boost his confidence.

Buffy, just like all of his other 9 siblings, were living outside and just didn’t get the socialization and exposure young puppies need. They are all a little shy and definitely need that extra boost to learn the world isn’t scary and filled with real life vampires and ghosts.

Buffy is doing better each and every day. He walks on a leash, started basic obedience and has been sharing a home with numerous other large dogs without issue.

We know Buffy (and any of his other siblings that we will feature later) will succeed with time, patience and love. He’s incredibly smart, he caught onto their home routine and was having minimal if any accidents for such a young pup!

Meet Larry!

Larry is a one year old neutered male who is back with us searching for a family of his own.

Larry recently went home with staff during some construction and was a great house guest! He is dog and cat friendly, however his future home with need to be willing to work with his quirks.

Larry came to us for the first time in September of 2025, had cherry eye surgery and was adopted the beginning of this year but is back with us and in search of a very specific home.

Larry does not enjoy when people come and go from his home and will need to definitely be a put up in a crate or safe space kinda guy in his next home. He would be happiest in a low key home that doesn’t have many visitors or constant change with a small circle of the people he calls family. While he doesn’t mind an adventure with his people, he definitely is not interested in hanging with unannounced strangers.

If entertaining guests is not really your thing or you’d prefer a night in over a night out, Larry might be the dog for you!

Larry would love to join a quiet home, is that one yours?! Apply to adopt Larry!
